any one whos watched rm recently wont be surprised, hazard out but not creating or scoring like he did at chelsea so far anyway, city so often come up against the parked bus may well enjoy the chance to play a bit

Think City might win this won with Laporte back they already improved at the back and Madrid are very poor when sides go at them, the other night Levante waltzed through their midfield at will and got at the back line numerous times.

The last time I saw Laporte play UCL football he was a nervous wreck. The final should have been an european classic between Kloop's roundheads and Pep's cavaliers. He is an upgrade on the clueless ones(stones and otamendi) and allows Ferdinho to play midfield but I would not trust him for the big occassions. I expect goals in the 1st leg but neither side look that convincing.

Agree with ffaith re Laporte. He is a defensive liability at this level. Better than the other options normally but can't be fully fit. An ageing Kompany was their best defender and they didn't replace him. Still surprised they didn't strengthen in January with this tie in mind.
Haven't seen much of Real but hasn't Zidane made them more defensively robust this season tactically? I read somewhere that he had. The table would seem to indicate so, conceded less than Atletico. Levante only their second loss all season and they always prioritise these ties over the league. Real will be happy enough with a draw imo, even a score draw. City concede goals and conceding at home has been their undoing in this comp. Roache you can say the same about Walker for Perisic's goal. Switched off/ball watching for a second or two and let his man in in front of him instead of attacking the ball when he was in pole position to get there first. Did the same for the Mane goal at Anfield this season. |

Underestimating their chances against City would still be a major mistake, judging them by results against Celta and Levante rather than performances. El Real have been largely very good since autumn and will have a fresh Federico Valderde and Ferland Mendy to bring back into the XI after a weekend rest. They remain unbeaten at the Bernabéu in Liga and Champions League this term and have the tools, led by the perennially underrated Karim Benzema (enjoying his best season in years), to unsettle City's suspect defence.

What price would you of expected & what are your thoughts on the game as a city fan?
I don't see City losing myself if I was betting I'd be happy to lay Real. Layed Real last night to trade @ just below 2/1 which I thought was a tad short. That was on the basis of Hazard not playing/Stirling not confirmed as being fit (Thought he was a cert to play myself) City usually steam in these types of games in my experience so I'd expect to see City shorten still slightly. |

I think if you swopped the Real and City prices around that wouldn't be too far off. Normally if I price something up and I'm this much out I've missed something though

Sterling will start imo, D Silva is available but no idea hw fit he is. Hazard not a great loss for Real.

Weird thing is my trade/my view on the game are completely separate. I'm trading City on the basis they're always overbet. They're being hammered now as I said.
IMO Real actually have a better chance without Hazard as it allows them to play an extra man in the middle that being said this Real team isnt the team it use to be. I think a score draw for City would be a good result. |

I think this will be a good indicator of how good our PL actually is. Spurs and Chelsea both hammered at home by Bayern, Liverpool beaten by an average Atletico Madrid and not even troubling their keeper. I think City may struggle tonight.

Nobody expected Chelsea to get past Bayern, and the 2-7 was a fluke. The PL has the two best teams in the world at the moment, but CL games are often a coin toss. Madrid and Barcelona are fairly tripe at the moment, but CL is very often a coin toss. So tonight'll indicate nothing. |
