Another interview today about how he wants to progress for the Liverpool job. And the club that's employing him can see nothing wrong with it. At least the Celtic manager wants to be where he is. Its all hilarious. Of course Brendan Rodgers will be shuddering as apparently he left Celtic as he was afraid of Gerrard LaughLaughLaugh. Its all the refs fault Wink

Stevie G has done Lfc a few favours in fairness.
7m for Kent beyond belief.

Ejaria and Ojo loan fees also. Neither of those or Kent anywhere close to good enough for Lfc.

Klopp is here for the long haul Soph.

That LFC fans want our legend, Stevie G, back at our club in some capacity sometime in the future, but u do not, speaks volumes.
Report jedi sophie February 23, 2020 9:54 PM GMT
I dont want him back as manager until hes proven up to the job.....nothing hes doing at Rangers suggests he is, nothing.that's why you've gone quiet on that particular subject recently.

Hes already been back in some capacity. And left to take up his current post.

Be ecstatic if came back and was given  the job on merit. Not playing career.
Report pushkin99 February 23, 2020 10:00 PM GMT
As I have repeated often before. Celtic hold all the cards. Stevie G is doing amazingly well with his Rangers Revolution and for his team to be mentioned in the same breath as Celtic.

FWIW, even though he has cut his teeth as a manager, IMVHO Stevie G will clearly not come back to replace Klopp. He will be integrated back in at the club in a support role, or manager of one of the junior teams, and in time maybe even an assistant to Klopp. Who knows how he will develop, maybe he will succeed maybe he will not.

That's my point in a nutshell. In Scotland, no other team has a chance as Celtic hold all the cards and have all their built in advantages that they have enjoyed for the last 10+ years. And that is someone who went to Celtic park with friends when I lived in Scotland.

That Stevie G and his Rangers team are now starting to being in a position to even begin competing with Celtic speaks volumes.

Why am I am not surprised that u are unable to see and understand this?

jury is out on stevie g

I like the man , passionate , honest and respected throughout game

first job in management tho and there to be judged like anyone else

made mistakes imo

celebration after beating them wasn't wise , motivated them even more and save it for when we actually win something

tends to stick to his own players , while good players like Ross McCrorie , Docherty and Murphy not given a chance

needs to stop publicly shaming players , effects them and become targets for online idiots

needs to get a bit more winning exp into side  , most done nothing in game yet and struggling to cope with pressure of stopping 10

I say stick with him tho , played some of best football ive seen in 20 years there , marching on in Europe , tho that's
probably a happy escape from title pressure tbh

I can see recently mans starting to realise how hard management is , rushed the new style of play should have built from back and taken time to implement style I feel

the squad is there to do it , great players when it clicks just need to re group and start again , this title is gone it needs to be about preparing for next year imo from right now

its coming home , will be next year tho confidence has to build again

Even though Celtic, have lorded it for the best part of ten years without any serious challengers to their domestic dominance in that time.

Celtic have held all the cards and advantages for many years. Far richer with much bigger revenues banked for many years from winning all those cups and European runs, better players and a much better and deeper squad.

Seems pretty straightforward to me. Of course he would want to manage Liverpool one day. Rangers know this and not a problem for them. Doing a pretty good job with them as well. I would think it fair to say that if any good, no manager is safe from moving from the SPL.

Spot on comment. You would need to be stupid not to know that his ambition is to manage Liverpool. We took him on as manager knowing that and knowing that for him to have any chance of achieving his goal he'd need to do well up here.
Not sure why that upsets some people or how some seem surprised by it.
Report PorcupineorPineapple February 26, 2020 10:00 PM GMT
Anyone remotely surprised or offended by the idea that Gerrard would one day want to manage Liverpool needs help frankly. I know Rangers/Celtic is big in Scotland but they're a stepping stone; a club to prove yourself worthy of better things. That applies to players and to managers.

For me, Gerrard has done a good job so far. Easy to do a Barnes and burn out early on and disappear from trace. Rangers were way behind when he took over and he's got them closer. Maybe a bit similar to Klopp's job in that it's taken a while to start working but after 2-3 years we'll see the fruits and and success from him. Hope so for him but the key is probably the next 18 months and getting past Celtic. Won't make him a great necessarily but will still be a good achievement.

Punting out Braga is impressive tbf, considering they should have been out of sight after the first hour in Glasgow, but since New Year "Rangers" have scraped narrow single-goal home wins against Hibs, St Mirren and Livingston, drawn with Aberdeen (which considering the way we've been playing this season is a sackable offence in itself) and St Johnstone and lost to Kilmarnock and rock-bottom Hearts.

Chosen by The Daily Telegraph as Liverpool's greatest ever player in 2015,Gerrard won a total of two FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Cup, one FA Community Shield and one UEFA Super Cup in his 17 seasons at Anfield.

He was named in the PFA Team of the Year a record eight times, the UEFA Team of the Year and the FIFA World XI three times, was named PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2006 and the FWA Footballer of the Year in 2009.

Anyone who ever saw him play could not possibly deny that he was a fantastic player with a fantastic mentality.

However, this doesn’t necessarily create the template required to be a successful manager.
You will have to manage players who do not appear to have the talent and dedication that you displayed in your playing days.

How you cope in such circumstances will determine your managerial success or otherwise.

I loved watching Terry Mc looking on from the terraces. he was nicknamed the Ghost, for the way he ghosted so easily through midfield to score many brilliant goals. I even remember him scoring a brilliant 'cross/shot' to win 1-0 at Spurs in the FA cup (when that competition really mattered) around 1980 I think it was.

He couldn't tackle for toffee though, and brilliant player though he was, the Kop still gave him the bird when he often pulled out of making 50/50 tackles.

a born leader and a proper example to any younger player or teammate , led by example on and off pitch and that's why he is one of the most respected figures in the game , to suggest otherwise is stupidity

as for management , people are forgetful and I include a lot of our own support here whos behaviour on social media is embarrassing at times

when he took over we were getting dumped out of Europe first go by farmers , getting pumped by septic almost every game and even more inconsistent than we are now , a lot of these things have improved

wont say he hasn't made mistakes of course he has , but if our support and media hound the man out of Scotland they will never get anyone in that seat with more passion or more hunger to give the fans a winning team

How many times will he use the phrase "deep fried Mars bar" during his resignation statement?

Sevco weren't spending millions on players when they were getting knocked out by farmers and miles behind Celtic.

Ofc they are better under Gerrard given the money he's had to spend. They were rock bottom and could only improve.
It wdve been the same under any manager. Gerrard was in a no lose position when he took over but somehow he's still managed to 'lose'

All about opinions but Alonso was a far superior player, tactically and tech locally.
Gerrard overrated snowboarder, decent player but nothing special wouldn't have got in Liverpool great teams.
Report jamesdean March 1, 2020 4:22 PM GMT
Gerrard was superb. Lifted a mediocre Liverpool side time and time again, one of the all time greats imo.

Managerial career a failure so far but still young enough to turn that around given time

Anyone questioning Gerrard the player needs to see a specialist....

On a side-note, has anyone ever seen or heard Gerrard laughing? I was trying to figure out what it is about him that unsettles me. I think it might be that.

There is no way Gerrard would have got a game before souness in the good teams. Souness was different class, hard as nails too.  winner

Celtic were 2-1 down away to Livingston but grabbed a late equaliser.
No equaliser for Rangers though, finishes 1-0 to Hamilton, brings back memories of Adrian Sprott Laugh

"Without question on the up"

Losses to the worst two teams in the Premiership this week. Doing a blinding job IMO.

Stevie Bhoy said he was 'all in' for Sevco recently, well he has gone all in with a high card, he has a **** hand and he knows it. Agent Gerrard making James Bond look like an amateur.
