Can you explain this scenario? I team attacking, they lose posession so the other team attacks but gets fouled . Why does the fouled player stay on the ground and let the other teaams players get back into their defensive positions instead of jumping up and taking the free kick quickly whilst the other team are stll out of position. It's not rocket science, more like common sense

I,d like this explained I no teams are fitter, stronger than in the past but has rtob holding and phil jones have shown this week standard of defending is chronic, laughable at times yet when teams like villa last night park the bus, close the gaps, and lec players passed it everywhere but forwards,it never in 90 mins occurred to one lec player to walk ,run up to an opposition player and go past him with a bit of skill, trickery, speed, just doesn't happen in the modern uk game, best, barnes, waddle, robertson, gazza, etc.etc 1st thought was always to take someone on ,pass was 2nd,3rd thought

there's the odd player that can do it but you're right, it's seriously lacking and the one thing missing from the game these days, midfielders that can dribble it. it's why adama traore is standing out so much because he dribbles for fun. everyone wants to pass it to death but it goes nowhere. you have to take risks as a midfielder. rice and that lot don't have the creativity to break down defences. they think a sideways pass will cut it but it won't

Case in point B Silva in his 1st season at man city would dribble/take on people for fun. Used to love watching him. Now he is more likely to make a safe pass than dribble. Factors lenient refs, thuggish opps and in many cases their 1st loyalty is to themselves, their agents etc so why risk injury?
