I expect they will want Moyes to agree a 6 month deal like last time.
But 2 years ago he was coming off 3 consecutive disasters and would take anything offered. Now, in his own mind at least, he is the guy who did a brilliant job with West Ham, so may well ask for a 3 or 4 year deal, which they would be reluctant to offer.
So may be worth laying Moyes.

Why would Stevie G move to a manage a smaller team. In Glasgow as Liverpool he is respected. He is getting european experience with Glasgow Rangers. He already turned down move to England. Dont see it happening.
Very unlikely to happened I know but I'd be in favour of him becoming manager.

Pinpointing the precise moment when it all began to unravel for Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham is fairly easy.
Saturday, 28 September. Bournemouth away.
Up to that point, West Ham had enjoyed a pretty good start to the season.
The previous week they had beaten Manchester United at London Stadium and were fifth in the Premier League with 11 points from six games, level on points with a Leicester side with whom they were expected to compete as the most likely outsider to gatecrash the 'top six'.
Then goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski tore a hip muscle in the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth and was ruled out for three months. In the gap, West Ham's world collapsed.
They did not win again until the shock 1-0 success at Chelsea on 30 November.
When Pellegrini's exit was confirmed after a 2-1 home defeat by a Leicester side who had made nine changes from the team thrashed by Liverpool on Thursday, they had collected just eight points from their past 13 games, and teetered uncomfortably a point and a place above the relegation zone.
When he attracted Pellegrini to the club to replace David Moyes in the summer of 2018, West Ham chairman David Sullivan made a conscious decision to step back from major involvement in football affairs.
He let Pellegrini spend an unprecedented £170m over two summers. Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop and Pablo Fornals all cost in excess of £20m. Striker Sebastien Haller came in from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer for a club record £45m.
Few of the signings lived up to their billing.
But it was a free transfer that caused Pellegrini the biggest problem.
Club sources said the decision to sign Roberto as back-up to Fabianski was solely down to Pellegrini and his trusted ally Mario Husillos, who was appointed on a three-year deal around the same time as the Chilean.
As it turned out, Roberto - a 33-year-old former Atletico Madrid, Benfica and Espanyol goalkeeper - was terrible.
In his first six games, Roberto not only failed to keep a clean sheet, he twice conceded two goals and conceded three in each of his final three games. In his final appearance of that run, against Tottenham, he was ridiculed, loudly, by his own supporters.
It was impossible not to feel sorry for Roberto. But it underlined a lack of faith in him that extended far beyond the stands at London Stadium to senior officials at the club.
After that game it is understood contact was made with former Millwall manager Neil Harris for an assessment of David Martin, who had been signed as a training goalkeeper in the summer.
That the call came from outside Pellegrini's coaching group underlined a loss of faith in the 66-year-old, whose title-winning managerial abilities from his time at Manchester City had not transferred south.
As it turned out, Martin played in the following game at Chelsea, which West Ham won, and also at Southampton three games later, when, again, the Hammers were victorious.
But injury kept Martin out of the pivotal Boxing Day trip to Crystal Palace and with Fabianski not quite ready to return, Roberto came back, and the Hammers lost after leading midway through the second half.
It would be wrong to pin all West Ham's troubles on Roberto. West Ham placed unprecedented faith in Pellegrini to bring success to the football side of the club after managing director Karren Brady had helped end the very public dispute with their London Stadium landlords.
While it could not be argued Hammers fans were finally happy in their new home, the venomous hostility that spilled over at the infamous home game against Burnley in March 2018 had at least eased.
Yet Pellegrini struggled to get the most from his players.
Anderson was a fitful performer, with many feeling being stuck out wide denied him the freedom to express himself.
Haller scored three times in his first three games but has done so only twice since. Fornals scored the final goal of Pellegrini's reign but it was the only time he found the net in the Premier League under the former Real Madrid coach. Against Leicester, he was replaced with 35 minutes remaining even though West Ham were desperate for a goal.
Pellegrini said his side needed to prioritise their home form but they managed just one point from their six home games following the win over Manchester United and his players seemed unsure of the roles they were being asked to carry out.
When West Ham told David Moyes his services were no longer required in May 2018, their official statement said they wanted to take the club in a different direction.
Hurtling headlong into the Championship was not the direction they had in mind.
After a great deal of negotiation, home capacity has been raised to 60,000, is due to go up to 62,500 and should eventually reach 66,000. This has not been done to host the likes of Reading and Wigan.
Fairly or otherwise, Sullivan, his co-owner David Gold and Brady do not have great reputations among the Hammers support, who feel they are not maximising the club's potential.
Part of this is natural supporter demand to want more than they have, disregarding the consequences of overspending and getting it wrong. But the fury at taking the club out of Upton Park has never completely gone away, even though most accept the stadium was a relic and not fit for a modern-day Premier League club.
Against that backdrop, any appointment will be greeted with scepticism.
If Moyes returns, and that is the strong rumour at present, it may feel like a backward step to some, even if the Scot did a decent job last time around when, again, the club appeared in freefall under Slaven Bilic.
Others like Sean Dyche and Eddie Howe have been mentioned before and not ended up at the club. Former Brighton boss Chris Hughton is another from the solid rather than spectacular category. Former player Paolo di Canio is an erratic fans' favourite.
Rafael Benitez is an interesting option though. Sullivan gets on with the former Liverpool boss and thought long and hard about trying to recruit him to replace Moyes but plumped for Pellegrini instead.

West Ham hope to be able to announce Manuel Pellegrini's replacement as manager on Monday, with former boss David Moyes almost certain to take over at London Stadium.

Moyes, who is due to meet club officials on Sunday, led relegation-threatened West Ham to Premier League safety during six months at the club following the dismissal of Slaven Bilic in November 2017.
However, his contract was not renewed, with the Hammers stating they were "looking to go in another direction".
Despite providing Pellegrini with a significant transfer budget, West Ham saw results nosedive this season following an injury to first-choice goalkeeper Lucasz Fabianski.
Even going into the Leicester game, it was hoped the Chilean manager would turn the situation round. But Leicester's victory with a virtual reserve team left the Hammers hierarchy fearing a change had to be made in order to save their top-flight future.

Surprised it's 18 months, would have thought just til end of season would have done, not sure what the point in an 18 month deal is, that says you don't just want him to steer you to safety but you don't want him for the long term future either, it's a sort of we'll see how you get on in the next 5 months and if you've done better than we thought and the fans are not on our backs we'll extend it, if not we'll pay you off for the last 12 months, West Ham have 19 games left, in Moyes, last 19 games he won 6, drew 7, lost 6, if he could repeat that they'd be on 44 points and be comfortably safe. It's a very good short term move IMO, I'd have signed him for 5 months whilst looking for a replacement in the meantime. Not sure who West Ham fans were expecting exactly, Allegri?

don't think Moyes was in a position to negotiate, 18 months out of work and similar options like Allardyce, Mark Hughes, Chris Coleman, Chris Houghton.

It's a poor choice though.
The 3 teams that went down two years ago were historically dreadful. So keeping West Ham up was no big achievement at all.
This is basically like Southampton sacking Hassenthal and reappointing Mark Hughes.

ha, no chance Moyes in a position to talk about length of contract, he'd have taken what he was given, nobody wanted to employ him for 18 months despite many vacancies arising and West Ham having many other options, teams being historically poor doesn't really have relevance to where they were at in an individual season, though there were poorer teams Moyes still finished comfortably away from relegation which is why he's been brought back in. They have 19 games left, in his last 19 games he achieved 25 points, even 18 or so points should/could do.

Rice and Noble will probably sit deeper, full backs not crossing the half way line much, long balls up to haller, any flair player not doing dirty work will probably be dropped, likely to make a signing or 2 in Jan, maybe even loans.
l am a hammer. My nan said if you aint got nothing positive to say naught. On that basis surely this is kansas chief's time to win the SB. Go chiefs
None of these prem clubs are ever willing to take a punt on a lower league manager, like 18 month contract they'd jump at it to leave a Crawley or a Wycombe for example

Moyes is not a top top manager by any means, he's just a safe pair of hands at medium level clubs.
It works at these type of clubs because they have certain type of players who's ego's are not so huge and therefore does not need much managing, fans also don't demand certain styles, at least not as much as the traditional big 4 or 5 clubs.

It works at these type of clubs because they have certain type of players who's ego's are not so huge and therefore does not need much managing, fans also don't demand certain styles, at least not as much as the traditional big 4 or 5 clubs.

As I said at the time of Moyes leaving, he rescued us from the relegation places to 13th place and should be given the chance to further improve the squad. The fans who wanted rid of him last time welcomed Pellegrini with open arms and we end up back where we started from and 180 million worse off. I judge managers on results and have been following West Ham since the mid 1950s and have learnt the hard way through the 1960s with great players and never finishing higher than 8th. If you can't defend you win nothing and we never learnt the lesson and probably never will.
West Ham got rid of him to go in a new direction. Now they get him back . For what ? If I was Moyes , they would have got told to Feck off . He can't be skint . Has he no shame ?
Moyes obviously still wants to be involved and probably wants to prove a point to his critics.
Moyes cannot be blamed for taking the money, he is in a win/win position and there are very few who would turn their nose up at such an offer.

Cork Langer....It was a stupid mistake for us to sell Kouyate to Palace but Tomkins had began to disappoint a little so I understood the transfer. My understanding of the situation last time was that Gold wished to retain Moyes but Sullivan wanted Pellegrini and his view prevailed.

If West Ham feel sheepish about giving the manager they ditched an 18-month deal on Sunday night, they have no one but themselves to blame. When Moyes replaced Slaven Bilic in November 2017 he found an unfit side and improved their work ethic. Yet it did not convince the board to extend his initial six-month deal. Pellegrini arrived, promising attractive football, but West Ham were easy to play against under the Chilean and habits that disappeared under Moyes have returned.

As captain of this great football club, I want to speak directly to you, my fellow West Ham United supporters.
I know that we were going through a difficult time and the club decided to make a decision to change manager.
David Moyes knows the club and he knows a lot of the players and the players he worked with - myself, Manu, Angelo, Arthur, Cress, Dec, Reidy, Michail and Zaba - really liked and respected him and the way he worked when he was here. He got players playing to their full potential and I hope and believe he can do it again.
I know the fans are not happy with the situation we find ourselves in, but we all love and support our club and we need to get behind the manager and try to get ourselves out of this position.
The manager worked for a long time at a club that is very similar to West Ham in Everton, and you don't stay at a club for that long under the scrutiny of passionate fans unless you are good at your job.
I think David is the best person for the job.
My main thing is that I have always put the club before myself in my career. I just want us to do well. The last few seasons have been full of ups and downs, and I just want the club to be stable.
We hoped that would happen with Manuel because he is such a great guy and had a proven managerial pedigree, but we now need to get back to what we are as West Ham United and achieve realistic targets before aiming higher. When Manuel was appointed, I was really hoping it would be that way, but it didn't work out.
I enjoyed some fantastic football under him and learned so much from him and his staff and I know they were genuinely gutted that it didn't work out, but I do feel like we need to walk before we can run and build something.
We need to win football matches and, however that comes at the minute, I'll take that.
Everybody knows I care for this football club and I want to win so badly, not just for myself but for every West Ham United fan out there.
Sometimes I take so much pressure on my own shoulders that every time we make a mistake or concede a goal, I blame myself, rightly or wrongly, and my emotion can come out.
That's why I have played at this level for so long, because I care so much, and I want us to do well.
I know it's a tough time for the fans, I understand that, but I do believe we need to come together and show the manager support and start getting results because, at the end of the day, results are all that matters.
Let's hope we all enjoy a happy New Year.
