Chelsea are 70/1 to win the premier league and if they win today they close the gap on city to one pointLaugh
Report betting_masta August 18, 2019 3:58 PM BST
Chelsea coming off two defeats but where they played v. well and could have won either game. Lampard doesn't seem to have figured out what his best 11 is yet, constant rotation, here he's dropped Kovacic for Mount which is fair enough because Kovacic has played poorly last 2 games and Mount is one of his búm boys. Giroud also retains the striker berth

Arrizabalaga
Azpilicueta
Christensen
Zouma
Emerson
Kanté
Jorginho
Pedro
Mount
Pulisic
Giroud

for me that's not a team you put faith in at this current moment. however, they have played well at times and Mount/Pulisic are very unexposed types and could both be anything. it will be interesting to see how well they play in this first home game for FL.

Leicester still have the new coach vibe as Rodgers has not been there that long. a 0-0 draw with Wolves opening weekend could set the tone for an underwhelming season

Schmeichel
Ricardo Pereira
Evans
Söyüncü
Fuchs
Ndidi
Pérez
Tielemans
Choudhury
Maddison
Vardy

It's a structurally strong team, defensively very sound. it's more functional than flair.

This fixture is low-scoring, there have been 8 goals in the last 5 matches here at the Bridge and from the line ups I'd lean towards it being low scoring. Pulisic looked dangerous vs Liverpool and he could open his CFC account today. Leicester won here last season 1-0 through a Vardy goal and Chelsea have failed to score in the last 2 seasons in this fixture. Chelsea have questions to answer already. Leicester look mid table and no better or worse

1-0 / 1-1 / 2-1 / 2-0   i.e. not a goal fest but leaning towards the home win

Was thinking similar there Masta low scoring game, might just watch first 15 mins to get a feel for the game. This strategy wouldn't have worked in the city v spuds match yesterday Devil

Who takes the spot kicks for Chelsea Giroud?
Report betting_masta August 18, 2019 4:11 PM BST
64% of goals in this fixture have come in the second half so it may well be thinking about that at half-time whatever the score may be
Report betting_masta August 18, 2019 4:11 PM BST
it will be jorginho i think possibly unless he's been retired from his duty
Report stroodle August 18, 2019 4:14 PM BST
Just put fiver on Jorginho first goalscorer for my first interest. Good luck all.

Lampard needs to win the game, so he straight swaps Jorghino for Kovacic? and Willian for Pulisic? surely you take off Jorghino and bring on Barkley! and maybe swap Willian with the Pedro who nearly 33 I think.
Report SontaranStratagem August 18, 2019 6:07 PM BST
Leicester are probably bottom half canon fodder this season, so the fact Chelsea are struggling to finish them is a sad reflection on this Chelsea side

Lampard will be gone soon if this carries on, he's just not cut out for top level management sadly

His tactical side is horrendous as well, that's two games in a row in the league he's made awful tactical changes

Report SlippyBlue August 18, 2019 6:18 PM BST
Lampard looks a bit stressed out there, Chelsea will win nowt this season and a top 4 finish? Well you would have to think that is looking highly unlikely given their performance in the opening 2 games.

You have to give Lampard some leeway, Hazard was an massive loss, possibly best player in league.
Report SontaranStratagem August 18, 2019 6:20 PM BST
Should have stayed at Derby where he could get away with such tactical errors, learn his craft under not much pressure

He even looked stressed at Derby when it was going slightly wrong, he's going to look like a ghost at Chelsea

The majority are bandwagon supporters who wont give him more than 3 games before calling for his head

And when they find out Roman is no longer bothered and is longer finance them they'll hop it up off to the Etihad

Lampard knows he will be sacked. every previous manager has met their fate in the same way. let's at least have a good attacking team to go to war with but no, highly limited team he's got and i think chelsea will get worse as the season goes on not better - they have more than one "old horse" in that team and i'm not overly convinced by any of the youngsters
Report betting_masta August 18, 2019 8:43 PM BST
Leicester were poor but they almost won it and it would have been deserved. I don't think Leicester will get that 6th/7th place, they  aren't that good, but the fact that they almost beat Chelsea shows how poor this Chelsea team is. tough pre season is already catching up with them. they were awful in that second half

defensively they look especially bad. i bet he's doing zero work tactically in training. all nice 5 a side quick touch play but the defence is abysmal. jose pointed it out and souness was on about it as well. he has to address it. doesnt help when he's got an absolute donkey playing at centre half (zouma)
Report SontaranStratagem August 18, 2019 9:25 PM BST
Derby looked awful in their own box as well

Crosses were their main weakness and it was no surprise both the goals in the playoff final came exactly from them

I don't think Lampard cares about defending, its as you say betting_masta nice one touch passing, sadly that's not going to cut it at elite level for very long, and the style of play is tiring on his players, all high press and quick attacking

They will just get picked off at that level because all you have to do is wait until they tire, the quality simply isn't there
Report ian merseyside August 19, 2019 12:22 AM BST
That was a really good game to watch.  Both sides going for it but neither having the ability to play the killer pass.  For all the entertainment, I can't remember either keeper making a proper save.
