admire mr bielsa in a way for what he did in instructing his players to allow villa to equalise but i cannot agree with his decision. The villa player goes down after hurting himself trying to foul a Leeds player on the halfway line.Leeds go up the field and score, why should they not ??The ref didnt stop the game.If you have to kick the ball out every time an opposition player goes down, then teams holding out for a result will be dropping like flies, pretending to be injured and we will never see any football .It wasnt a head injury or anything at all serious for those that didnt see it.Incredible decision by the Leeds bench,in my opinion.

agree, unless its an obvious head injury let the ref decide.
Report 1st time poster April 28, 2019 3:25 PM BST
there were 2 leeds players offside in build up before goal
Report snowynoon April 28, 2019 3:34 PM BST
1st time poster ,dont really see the relevance of that ,if it was the case,we are talking about kicking the ball out,or not ,if  an opposing player is down.

Admire him all you like but if Leeds had needed the win he wouldn't have let Villa score.
Report Crisp77 April 28, 2019 3:40 PM BST
Fair point. They could meet in the play offs so good thinking to calm the situation.
Report snowynoon April 28, 2019 3:42 PM BST
MFC,why should he let them score??Crisp may be right ,and he didnt want to give Villa extra motivation for possible play off match.
Report clacton April 28, 2019 4:00 PM BST
Play to the whistle. One of the first things you are told in football. Cant have players deciding when to stop a game. Most are cheats anyway.
Report scandanavian_haven April 28, 2019 4:02 PM BST
meant nothing to Bielsa, Leeds couldn't catch 2nd place because of goal difference, Leeds' guranteed play off spot anyway.
Report snowynoon April 28, 2019 4:03 PM BST
very true ,clacton.we already have enough players going down feigning injury without giving them another reason to do it.

what if he had a draw on his coupon ?
Report JC1326 April 28, 2019 5:56 PM BST
People missing what went on. Leeds guy kicked the ball in a manner that suggested he was stopping play, most the players stopped, except the Leeds plum that ran on and scored. Villa should have been outraged, and Leeds made the correct call
Report Magic__Daps April 28, 2019 6:36 PM BST
JC is correct, most Leeds players stopped as if they were kicking it out. If they carried on and scored then that's that, but they never.

Has anyone managed to find out how Bamfords face is after being hit by what must have been a Tyson sidewinder? That cont should get a massive ban for his cheating, he is one of the biggest cheats in the game.

Janssen trying to stop Villa scoring whilst all of his teammates stood by was quite a scene.
Report scandanavian_haven April 28, 2019 7:48 PM BST
here's the clip

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUAxqig6GQE

It was the villa player that FOULED the Leeds player, the whistle didn't blow, no Leeds player tried to slow down as if to kick it out really, it was just the Villa players signalling them to, fair goal, Villa player remonstrating very phsyically with the scorer should have been sent off.

The Leeds player that assisted the goal passed the ball to his teammate, he didn't attempt to kick it out so morally it wasn't wrong and he barely slowed down to do so, only a little bit as if he thought the ref was going to blow because the Villa players were all animated but regardless, again, the whistle didn't blow and it wasn't a head injury so play should have carried on anyway, dem the rules.

No way should Leeds have allowed an equaliser, you play to the whistle as said and the ref didn't blow, incredibly bizarre Jansen's own teammates were showing their annoyance at him when not only was it a fair goal but if anything it should have been an initial free kick to Leeds!

The commentator whoever he is, co Comm I think, doesn't seem to like Leeds at at all, even when they showed a slow mo replay of the tackle the villa player made where he ended up on his backside pretending to be hurt holding his calf, not head, he didn't say anything or correct himself, either because he knows he made a t1t of himself of he doesn't like Leeds.

And a big LOL to John Terry, classy as ever telling one of the Leeds's coaches to f*** off over and over as well as saying "it's fair", Mr Morals himself.

Bielsa must have been trying to win some fair play award.

Ok so imagine this........it's the final round of games, Leeds go into it a point ahead of Sheff Utd. 10 minutes to go and Sheff Utd we hear are 4-0 up............does anyone think Aston Villa would have been allowed the equalizer then?
Report sj April 29, 2019 12:49 PM BST
i thought the whole episode was an embarrassment to game we once called football.
So just lie down and the team has to kick the ball off
if we score and they moan about it let them go up the other end and score, what a farking charade the game has become
As someone said play to the whistle.
Don't know who the Leeds lad was who wanted to stop villa scoring, fair play to him. He should get an award for  services to a game once called football
Report GAZO April 29, 2019 5:39 PM BST
because all the players are cheats you pretty much have to play to the whistle because as the previous poster has put, the players will just lie down and claim injury if it suits
Report SontaranStratagem April 29, 2019 6:58 PM BST
Leeds didn't have to allow the goal in my opinion

I hope Leeds beat them in the playoff final just for the fact Villa threw an almighty hissy fit in a game that had become totally pointless to them

.............. Or was it the other way around ? Confused
Report TENDY April 29, 2019 11:56 PM BST
Technical the score went to 1-0 because the drama over player who actually fouled the Leeds man.

Not the scale of it but was kind of a Keane in Haaland but not as dramatic and intentional.

But in reality Leeds allowed Villa to equalise.

Not rocket science lol
