I suspect most would hate Liverpool winning the title but if they do stop them winning it also scuppers their top 4 prospects.Though can they get through in 5th if Liverpool or spurs win the CL??Horrible night for utd fans either way its misery.

They wouldn't qualify for the CL if they finished 5th, regardless of what Liverpool or Spurs do in the CL.
Don't give a f uck about top 4, want to smash City tonight, everybody in the ground will be roaring United to do as much damage as possible to City. The title is nowt to do with United.
In the grand scheme of things we'd prefer City to win the title rather than Liverpool but we want to beat City more than that. Its a derby ffs??

Can anyone clarify the present situation? Under the old rules, the team that wins the champion league automaticaly qualifies the following year. Therefore, if Liverpool or Spurs wind then the 5th. club would qualify. Does anyone know if this is still the case?
Top four only qualify. If Liverpool or Spurs win CL and either are in 5th then we get five in CL (top 4 plus them)

Yep, as Pete says, the Prem could only get to 5 CL places if a team outside the top four wins the CL.

No they won't? If Arsenal finish 4th and Chelsea finish 5th or 6th but win the Europa League... then both will join Spurs, Liverpool and City in the CL?
Sorry you are right. 4th only misses out if both euro cup winners finish outside top 4, so spurs would have to win the CL and finish 5th or 6th, with Chelsea/Arsenal doing likewise and winning the EL.
There should only be one team in the CL (European Cup), the winners. Just like the old days, 16 compete. It's nothing more than a gimmick now

Thank you for the clarification. Then there is no doubt that United will be fired up for this. They're not as good as City but, tbf, United's forte has always been to try and harry the skill out of the game, nick a goal and play safe. A generalisation but never see PlanB when United play a good team anyway. Route1 could work tonight.

Regarding who they would rather win the title and I have spent my entire life in Manchester I would guess A 1/3rd would won’t Liverpool a 3rd would won’t city and a 3rd wouldn’t give a sh.t
For me, I desperately want United to win tonight, to try and get top 4.
If that means Liverpool go on to win the league, so be it. If they win it they will deserve it. Rivalry is ok but not to the detriment of your own club.

...if united finish outside top 4 then Europa league would be a good run out for the kids...while the senior players can focus on winning the league
