Its only an issue in the bigger cities. Whatever the Irish Republican Army has done it pales into insignificance in comparison to what the British establishment did during the Irish Potato Famine in the 1840s. You reap what you sow in life and the way us Brits have behaved over the water over the past centuries, well its no surprise the Irish rose up in armed rebellion to kick us out. Sorry. |

Vast majority of Irish Republicans hate the IRA and everything they stand for. But equally the British have for centuries terrorised the natives of colonised countries with their army. No country wanted to be colonised by the British or anyone else and every one was taken by force. You people are taught in school/history that your Empire is something to be proud of - you are all brainwashed from an early age in that regard and you need to take your heads out of the sand and see things without the blinkers on. Your empire was built on theft, white supremacy and genocide.
It is basic human nature to fight/resist a foreign invader who takes land from the natives and to fight for land you feel is rightfully yours, even hundreds of years after the land is stolen. It is not something peculiar to the Irish, it is the same the world over and would be exactly the same if someone invaded Britain and took land from the natives there. The IRA bombing campaign resulted primarily from the British Army and Government treating Irish Catholics like second class citizens in their own country and from massacres like Bloody Sunday and if the same thing happened to British people you'd have done exactly the same in retaliation and understandably so. Get over yourselves. |

I take it you didn't go to school in England lurka? they don't teach that the British Empire was something to be proud of, and you're basically just coming across as another IRA sympathiser, anyone that kills innoncent civilians should be condemned, going abroad to kill people that had nothing to do with what happened in Ireland and then killing them makes them scum. Northern Ireland don't want a United Ireland which is the long and short of it.

Using words like scum is not helping your argument. Yes blowing up parts of the mainland uk are monstrous acts. But you can not look at them in isolation You need to look at the motivation of these desperate people, a bit like the current conflicts with various islamic peoples. It is worthwhile remembering that the IRA ceased their armed campaign after discussions were instituted with the british government under margaret thatcher. If the Reverend Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness can live and let live, then therin lies a lesson for us all. |

I condemn the killing of innocent civilians. However, Irish republicans were not the only combatants responsible for such killings. Loyalist paramilitaries, and the combined forces of the British state, also killed innocent civilians. Let's be thankful those days are largely behind us.

Sfira are attempting to rewrite history, the acceptance that its OK for fai executives to sing ira songs, for youth players to support terrorists etc is sickening. They weren't a boy scouts for grown ups, they were an illegal criminal gang responsible for the murder of men, women and children, catholics and protestants, child abuse, torture, rape, extortion, drugs. For anyone to romanticise them is pathetic.
