Well, usual stuff. The best six played each other, the rotten three lost. Fort William looked as though they were doing ok heading to half time before conceding in the 45th minute (0-3) and then collapsing in the second half as they normally do.

just the 8-2 home defeat today

Easily their best effort so far against one of the stronger teams in the league. I believe their trialist playing at centre forward scored their two goals. It was the usual story throughout the league with the three rotten teams losing, the strongest all winning except for Buckie who lost to Brora, one of the other better teams.
Fort William are away to Cove Rangers next week, the best team in the league. Single figure loss would be an achievement.

Fort were given a 9 point penalty this week for fielding an ineligible player. It never rains.

Played an ineligible player in 3 games.
Not sure what difference it'll make.
Finished last season with 5 points.
What would the odds be to be worse than that this season ignoring the 9 point penalty

The £150 fine will probably hurt them more than the point penalty.

I wonder what would have happened if it was one of the bigger teams that did it. They let Buckie off a couple of years ago, under slightly different circumstances, granted. It did cost Cove the title though, so that's a good thing.

Strathspey were briefly beating Cove, sadly the forces of darkness managed a 3-2 comeback win to stay 100%.

Hmmm. Given that the players are on an average wage of £20 a week I’d expect a little more too.

Lost 6-0 a long season ahead.

Well, they lost 11-0 and 9-0 to Brora last season so 6-0 away from home to them first game looks to be an improvement. They were only three down until the 77th minute and Brora are a decent team at that level. They gave Premier league Kilmarnock a tough battle in the Scottish Cup a season or two ago.

Apparently they have 9 on loan from Inverness.

They have Inverurie at home this Saturday. Inverurie beat them 10-0 and 7-1 last year. I reckon Fort will do better than that this time.

Many moons ago, I remember travelling to Fort William to play in a rugby match where we got a thumping.
Despite being on the wrong end of a hiding, our stand off was man of the match, putting in a remarkable display of tackling.

Last season it would have been around 20/1 Fort.

A 1-4 loss to Inverurie but not disgraced, still well in it till conceding in the 71st minute and then again in injury time (they lost to them 10-0 and 7-1 last year). Next week Fort are away to Strathspey Thistle, good chance of a point or three.
