As good or not as Amorim might be, he's going to be out of his depth this early in his management career trying to sort this mess out, that was the point in doubting his appointment, as it collapses further we will once again see less and less effort out on the pitch and the players will look at him and wonder who he is, you must have a manager that at least has extensive experience and is someone the players will at least would be in awe of.

A business the size of United will have intelligence about key staff. Maybe this is the club trying to get him to focus on football or face life in Saudi.

You seem to think United have some sort of power over him. He can sit there for 3.5 years, collect and leave for free and there's nothing United can do about it. He wouldn't be the first to do it either.

I've always thought it must take a special kind of mentality to maintain standards and efforts in training/matches etc... when you playing for midtable club (Especially one you have no personal link to) and you have no realistic chance of moving to a bigger club. Easy to give it 100% when playing for City, Real Madrid etc...

Its quite funny listening to the snearing attitude of utd fans towards even the vague possibility of Southgate being appointed.

The main issue I had with Southgate would be his preference for wing backs in alot of his games and not having enough bodies in central midfield. The problem though is Utd picked the one coach in Amorim who also seems to utilise Wing backs.

IMHO Southgate and Amorim are on a par. If anything I'd have Southgate ahead of him. Amorim has won a few leagues in a middling league with max 3 possible winners. He has achieved nothing of note in Europe.(Making last 16 in the CL). There is nothing stand out about any of his achievements. Southgate has unquestionably achieved with England getting them to 2 finals. They should have won vs Italy.

Southgate played a flat back 4 in the vast majority of games at the last euros and all the games at the last WC. He switched to wing backs against the Swiss to match their system.
Italy dominated England for about 30 mins until they equalised. Southgate didn't make any subs or tactical changes while that was going on. You could see the equaliser coming for a good 15 mins.

Southgate being a good manager is a myth. He got unbelievable draws and went out to the first top team on every occasion. There is literally nothing to indicate that he would be good at club level and he hasn't got anywhere near the experience to be managing United.

If the score remains could this performance be the lowest of the low by the woeful Mancunians? Shocking!
