You watch it back you can see MacAllister is initially running on to the ball to chest control it but sees Doku launch into the air and so turns sidewards to protect himself from getting seriously hurt.
But that's a coming together apparently. Officials are just corrupt.

Have to admit I wasn't overly impressed with him at the very start of his career here. But he was out for a few weeks in December and since then his form has been ridiculous. Proper POTY form but he never seems to get the acclaim. The lad can do everything. He tackles hard, reads the game well and his passes are a delight.
An absolute snip at the £35m we paid.

Endo's emergence has freed him up in midfield to do what he is best at playing the same role for Argentina He is at his best with the ball at his feet spotting the forward pass

I like macalister but his performances are way overrated so far. I’d say lack’s pace to easy to push off the ball doesn’t dominate games against so called weaker opposition
Had flashes maybe a few really good things every 25 mins a goal,or assist he’d going to go one of two ways step up become one of the best midfielders or he’s going to fade away become average or below with odd flash of brilliance
He has improved last few weeks maybe a month but needs to grab games by the scruff of the neck needs to make difference for me he’s not bad he’s just not great at present

Is right Rothko, same as the cup game too many chances missed , not clinical enough lately. Darwin looking awkward today , and Mo out of sorts again , Jurgen needs one more season to iron out the creases. And he knows it.

Yep, same story. Reminds me a bit of ~20 years ago when Utd were good but we kept giving them a bloody nose. They're not much different than under Ole - just no real system, players not in position (that Mainoo is honestly one of the most tactically naive players around) and yet he and they have a moment where they do that. Same as under Ole where the reliance is just on individual moments of magic.
We were the opposite really. MacAllister continuing to shine and just bossed the game. Szob again brilliant for 50 mins before fading (not that big an issue as Elliott is the best impact sub in the league) but it's slightly worrying how quickly Dom fades in games. But the team knew what they were doing and we kept carving them open but just couldn't get that right final touch to reflect our dominance on to the scoreboard.
But then this was always the toughest of our final games given the rivalry and we're still joint top on points. City and Arsenal have both got big CL games coming now and they both should really progress so their tricky spell is just coming up now with big games coming twice a week for the next six weeks.

As a gooner, can't see us winning it with our run-in. That point at OT might be the point that wins it cos I can see you both winning your last 7 matches.

I would expect the games will be more intense than the woeful game at the Etihad

Just like the last days of Dalglish - can't defend for toffee and manager has no idea how to stop us being so pourous.
Nine seasons and we have one league title (when nobody else tried due to Covid) and one Champions League win where we got lucky and faced even bigger chokers than ourselves.
Good riddance Jurgen.

As with Dalglish it was Crystal Palace and Everton who put the final nails in the coffin.

Not seen it mentioned in the media, but I think the effect of the new manager being more or less known had a real effect on wednesday. Always inevitable. Players are no doubt thinking about their next move (Salah looks like his mind's elsewhere for instance) and others starting to think about the new guy and their role in the team. Suddenly Klopp's authority is weakened as he's already yesterday's man and you get the relative lack of effort you see at Goodison.
Probably always difficult balance to try to get the man you want, but then also delay it so you don't affect this season.

There has been speculation for weeks now but I suppose the players now see the end of the Klopp era
Not sure if the speculation has affected the players but its evident that some players have been out of form for weeks including most of the forwards
Salah hasnt been the same since his injury, Nunez is erratic at best and whilst there is a lot of huff and puff about Diaz the end product has been missing, But a special mention for Konate who has been terrible in recent games.
We've really missed Jota as he is our best finisher by a mile

Szoboszlai's the weird one for me. Started the season like a bull. Amazing energy. Then he gets injured and comes back and looks like a 40 a day man. We're lucky to get an hour out of him. Wonder if we rushed a few back for the run in when they should have been held back a week or two for more conditioning work.

Given how our front line have been playing it'd be nice to see Jayden Danns get another chance on Saturday as I agree wholeheartedly with Rothko's points regarding our strikers plus Gakpo not really the class. Fully expect Salah to depart to Saudi this summer hopefully for an obscene amount of money and the we can invest in some top notch finishers

Should have let Salah leave last summer when the really big bucks were on offer - doubt we’ll get much more than a quarter of what we could have had.
As for Slot who knows - who’d even heard of him a month ago. Wish him all the best but the Ten Hag experience at Man Utd does not bode well.

yes agree about Szoboszlai - he was a passenger on Wednesday night and quite rightly dropped to the bench today

Danny Murphy said on MOTD that Szoboszlai has been one of Liverpool's best signings. What are these "experts" being paid for if they can't see what anyone with a bit of football knowledge and a pair of eyes can see? Klopp knows he can't rely on the guy (and a few others), that's why always has to bench him or hook him after 60-odd minutes. Same goes for Richards who said that it is "unlike Liverpool" to miss lots of chances, despite obvious evidence to the contrary. Why can't the well-paid pundits see it?

Nah. Szob was excellent earlier in the season. Utterly key to how we play in how much he pressed, his reading of the game and his ability to link up with the attack.
But he was injured through January, came back early and got injured again. Something's just not quite right physically with him.
As for the attack missing chances, I'd still say the bigger issue is the goals we've conceded. You just can't go behind as often as we have this season and expect to challenge. The attack can only ever drag you back into it so many times. I have questions about VVD's captaincy. We're an attack minded team who spend much more time in the oppo's half and I wonder how he can lead a team when often being disconnected from the general play. It's also been obvious that we've needed Klopp at half time to change the set up and gee the players up for the comeback. Henderson was always brilliant at being a mini-manager during a game and we've missed that imo. But we've given ourselves too many hills to climb this season, and spent too much energy chasing games instead of just getting a lead and controlling it. Add a few crucial injuries in and you can see how the team has simply run out of energy.

I know asking to hear the audio is a little bit sour grapes and close to bullying the officials...but I really want to hear what they were all saying around the Gakpo- Areola thing late on. Cos it looks like the ref just waved play on and Gakpo was well entitled to slot it in the net, and then the ref basically calls on the physio and tells Areola to go down as if injured. Feels like he's dropped an absolute clanger there.

Let's hope so re Nunez. Got progressively worse as season has gone on where you would expect him to improve. Similarly as above Szoboszlai has been very poor as has Salah. Others for a small1 month spell very costly for Jurgen. The goals drying up has ultimately cost us our chance when sat alongside our fairly porous defense.
Anyway the reason I post for first time in a while is to pay tribute to the finest. Most fun, most passionate, successful manager I've enjoyed as an adult LFC fan. An absolute joy. A phenomenon.who I feel we may very much struggle to replace. Look at Utd, Arsenal for examples. Absolutely loved Klopp for the majority of his tenure. Wish him well in absolutely whatever he chose to do. My own small criticism would be his loyalty to players clearly not good enough at begining of his tenure, and possibly similar at end of his tenure, maybe dictated by Fsg not wanting to compete with City financially. Which somehow Klopp managed without similar funding. A bit frustrating to see them repeatedly sign the right player. The best player while Klopp tries to find another lower cost gem. There depth of squad is what has cost us a number of further trophies during Klopp tenure. With similar backing he could've doubled his haul imo.
The club seems to have there ducks in a row behind the scenes which is very very encouraging, some very impressive appointments and structures now in place. Can the new manager refresh and allow us to go again without a huge rebuilding phase?
Let's hope so. Farewell Jürgen. Get the statue built please......

Jurgen inherited a very poor Liverpool squad and transformed it into one of the best squads in the world Pep inherited Aquero , Silva , De Bruyne, Fernandinho and a PL winning squad Klopp inherited Mignolet, Sakho, Skrtel, Moreno
It took him from October 2015 to the 2018/19 season to transform the squad and it was only the sale of Coutinho and being able to reinvest in Van **** and Allison that took the squad to the next level
At the same time Cheaty were investing heavily in their squad and competing with that was an incredible achievement based on the lower budget he had
For me the fact that Liverpool were able to compete from 2018/19 at the top level and back in the Champions league was all that you can wish for as a supporter, His style of football was so entertaining and energetic and I have some fantastic memories
He and his family understood so well the citizens of Liverpool that even bitter Everton supporters admired him
He will be an extremely hard act to follow and we may need to be patient with the new manager and staff as i suspect there will be comings and goings but i remain optimistic that the younger players coming through are good enough
Agree about the statue

Thought Klopp carried himself magnificently yesterday. A legend of a man. Vvd Trent Salah needs addressed.

I'm generally quite a positive person. I don't get too down-hearted by bad results. Just tend to brush them off. I view footy as entertainment and have taught myself not to get too embroiled where a defeat will leave me devastated. And I'm genuinely looking forward to Slot coming. Change is exciting. It can be good. I'm a big fan of Edwards et al and I want to see it given full rein to have a go.
However, the last few days has just seen me wallowing in sadness.
I love that man.
He's just the utter personification of everything we could ever want a Liverpool manager to be. His passion, his ability, his whole worldview. We had great moments in the decades before he came. Sure we did. But I can't think of any period with as many great days and nights. And he built a team that can genuinely stand shoulder to shoulder with the best put together by Shankly, Paisley or King Kenny.
I'm too young to remember when Shankly left but it feels like that kind of moment. Hopefully the next guy is half as good as Sir Bob.

Farewell to JK it's been a brilliant rollercoaster with far more ups than downs. He's probably been one the greatest leaders and man-managers in the history of the game and I have to admit I'm devastated that he's going. Hope I'm wrong but I fear Slot will have the same problem that MU have had since AF moved on with all their subsequent managers finding the job too much, remember Moyes after about 3 months had aged by about 10 years. One big difference is that JK has left us with decent squad and plenty of young talent. Anyway welcome Arne and good luck

All them videos last few weeks reminiscing klopps time here were good and entertaining, but was a bit like after you’ve split up with the mrs, and you keep watching the wedding video over and over. Agree with above concerns , and we’ll just have to stay focused and hope it’s a smooth transition, Edwards is a good timed return for us, squads good and full of potential. A couple of good signings and who knows. We’ll miss Jurgen big time, and good luck to him.

Think it's worth recording the fact that Thiago has now retired from footy. Probably one of the most gifted players to wear the red shirt but clearly ruined by injuries. So sad really even if he has won so much and earned millions no doubt. Can only imagine he'd be in Slot's team with its emphasis on short passing and defence splitting balls.

Bit of a worry no signings. Even more of a worry it looks like Trent may stitch us up and walk for free to Real Madrid next summer.
Same Virgil looks like he will leave for free in a year.
Don't want to sign a contract, then sell them or leave them in the reserves. Bradley can be given the starting position.
Heard Kudus from West Ham is on the radar, think he is quality.

Seemed pretty good yesterday. Players look refreshed and re-energised. Big question over whether we get this Spanish midfielder. He seems torn and could well decide to stay. And watching Diaz yesterday (and in the summer) I'm again left wondering why we're so interested in Anthony Gordon.

Shame about the Spanish lad but doesn't feel overly surprising. He's obviously settled and maybe only wants to move if to one of the Spanish giants.
Lot of fans getting antsy at the lack of movement but I'm fairly comfortable. Slot made a comment about the standard being very high and so any new signing needs to be exceptional and I'm fully on board with that. If we're playing 2 deep midfielders, and therefore don't really need a specialist Fabinho type, then surely MacAllister, Jones, Bajcetic and Gravenberch is enough to cover that, and then try to lock down the guy we want rather than buy another Endo.
Main focus for me is tying down Trent, Mo and VVD to new deals. Far more important than bringing anyone else in right now.

Yeah, I'd say a young up and coming left back as well as a left sided centre back should be our main targets. Though neither need be £50m type first team players just yet, more that they are part of the squad and will need to force their way in.

First half was as I'd feared. We were about three weeks from being proper match-ready with some players not quite at it and the new tactic of passing it round in dangerous areas coming perilously close to pissballing about as my dad would call it.
Second half though like a completely different team. Using Salah and Diaz as third man runners, 3 great passers in midfield with Trent then better than any of them. A bit more composure in the box and we'd have had six.
Promising start.

Rumours that Madrid are trying to do what they did with M'Bappé (shovel him the transfer fee instead of the club) to both Trent and Alfonso Davies. We'll find out soon enough.

Thought is was about time we resurrected the thread - plenty of positives just now, Grav, Szob, Mac, Lucho, the defence and we've even got Salah passing and scoring. There's a player in there with big Nunez and Gakpo unlucky Lucho is in such good form. Hope Chiesa isn't another in the Kewell/ Keita/Carroll/Aquilani mould. But main point is AS, really pleased on how its gone so far, apart from the obvious blip we've been pretty impressive and so has AS in all his interviews and his tweaks of the system were just what we needed. Looking forward to a season of consolidation and anything else will be a very welcome bonus.

We're brilliantly boring right now. Just really efficient and getting the job done with no dramas. Centre backs are the best around, midfield is purring with Grav the missing link and the attackers are all chipping in with goals and assists.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who knows a thing or two about winning the Premier League, once said that "attack wins you games, defence wins you titles".
He may have managed Liverpool's greatest rival of the time Manchester United, but those are words that will feel encouraging to Reds fans right now.
Their side has effortlessly transitioned from the post-Jurgen Klopp era into Arne Slot's reign and go into the international break top of the Premier League, with their fantastic start to the season having been built on the back of a near watertight defence.
Following Saturday's 1-0 win at Crystal Palace, they have conceded the fewest goals after seven games with just two and have kept five clean sheets.
While there is a long way to go, they are right where they want to be in the title fight.
"We keep going and we keep working," Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said.
"We are never satisfied. Everyone is contributing to clean sheets."

Not playing that great and winning is a good sign, wolves game a bit nervy when we kept giving the ball away, and Bologna had us on the ropes for 20 odd minutes, shows there’s plenty of room for further improvement, even though we seemed to sort it it 2nd half. So far, so good. Tougher period of matches coming up now though for the red men
