New signing Nico González has been handed his Newcastle United debut ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash away at Tottenham Hotspur (kick-off 5:30pm BST).
The Spanish midfielder, who arrived on Tyneside from Manchester City earlier this week, is one of six changes from Wednesday's 3-2 win against West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup.

GK was great and will only improve. Looks proper all round keeper.
The backline (only 2 games tbf) have been absolutely superb. Gonzalez was superb today. Him and Miley is a proper midfield with huge upside once settled in.

Four points better off than most of us thought after the first two games. Once again the speed of our attacks was awesome and we just about deserved the win.
Keeper made some good saves but still flapped at some crosses, needs to improve, the back four kept a clean sheet mainly due to excellent blocks by Hall who made 17 interceptions which was more than the rest of the team put together, the defence lost too many tackles, has to improve against better sides, Hall was man of the match for me, but lets not forget that this was a pretty ineffective Spurs attack yet they still managed 17 shots. Only two shots on target and two goals for us, 100% strike rate but despite our attacks their keeper didnt have another save to make in the 90 minutes but who cares.
Sod Tonali, Elanaga made a monkey out of him. Gonzalez, our quaterback? Cracking introduction. Tino will struggle to get his place back if the form of Dedic continues. Miley easing himself back into things after his lay off, will only get better. Barnes was anonymous going forward but put in a Guitierrez shift in.

Despite my appeal for quiet fortitude, it's impossible to overstate how much we needed all this. The media banging on about losing our best players shows how little attention they were paying. Howe had lost the plot and two of the three big names were a liability, and the other was too slow. We were going down for sure doing 433 regardless of who we played and losing 17 games with these mercenaries wasting space. 27 points lost from winning positions and a third of them down to a goalkeeper he wouldn't drop. Playing Burn at fullback with Hall on the bench at Fulham the final straw. No sane person does that! Hall would have been gone or on strike by now. Proper team now and a man with ideas in charge. But avoiding hype is never a bad idea.

Absolutely spot on. Howe is a decent coach but when you evaluate his full work at Newcastle, it was very poor at the end. For all the nonsense talk of FFP, he was fully backed. As some else said, he took over with Schar, Willock, Murphy & Joelinton. He bought Bruno, Tonali, Isak & Gordon and by the time he resigned all the old players remained and the new ones had gone. Absolutely ridiculous situation and poor squad management.

Paul Mitchell was hammered at the time for saying recruitment was not fit for purpose and Eddie got all sensitive and he had to go.

BTW Wissa stating that the new manager was the best signing is a total giveaway that Howe had lost the dressing room.

Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade has completed a season-long loan move to Serie A side Juventus.
The German international has featured 53 times in all competitions, scoring 11 goals, since joining the Magpies from VfB Stuttgart last summer.
Nick appeared as a second-half substitute during Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League victory away to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 24-year-old will now link up with Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus, who sit fourth in the Italian top-flight after winning both of their opening fixtures.

Yes i think many feel exciting times ahead.There will be plenty times though when things go awry.This is when the fans need patience and understanding.I hope we can tighten our defence up,especially at home. Theres a refreshing air around the club so lets make the most of it.It would be good to go into the international break unbeaten.

Sean, who has represented England at Under-19 level, joined Newcastle's Academy as a 13-year-old and was part of the Magpies' 2025 Carabao Cup winning squad.
The 19-year-old made his senior debut for the club in February 2026, featuring in a 6–1 UEFA Champions League win over Qarabağ FK. On the final day of the 2025/26 campaign, he made his Premier League debut, coming off the bench against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
He now joins César Peixoto’s side who currently sit third in the Championship following a strong start to the season.
