charlie stubbs 17 Jul 17:22 now we've missed out aimar, and with harper saying in the press we're at short on numbers since 4 players have left and we were ...
Point i'm trying to make is; after playing it around the back getting into trouble Hornicek just belted the ball forward anyway so why not just get it out of harms way in the first place

Yeah, pretty much they are looking for a gap, but the press put them under pressure so we had increasingly poor chances to hit it long to nobody.
Hornicek took a long goal kick first half and jasille had him over at next break and told him to play it short.
Centre mids need to space out, to get free, as do willock wissa,
Subs improved it.
Thing is we had height advantage in most match ups, bar our full backs, so long balls would be OK(ish) .
I think Miley was expecting nico to go more direct, as at spurs, so maybe didn't work hard enough to get into space to give him another option.
It's often a case that hitting it long from half way inside your half gives forwards a chance to run against high back line... Whereas goalie kicking it is heads up on half way line.
But I think jasille wanted them to persevere with trying to beat the press, which caused the back passes and goalie punts.

So yarll agreeing we need a centre forward at last.
i dont know if we thought we had done the hard part after first 2 games but we were blatantly second best in every department in the first half.Everybody was poor.Obviously second was better but still not good enough.

Always been a card favourite game of mine Arsenal, Chelsea both home and away. Will miss the Cucurella Saka battle this season. I think I will do a over 3.5 cards treble @ Birmingham, Everton and Arsenal.

Once again yesterdays match saw Lewis Hall with by far and away the most defensive interceptions (15) on the other side of the pitch Dedic made 4, love the athelticism of Dedic, his attacking play is fast and direct but maybe he should concentrate defending a bit more?
Can see both Livramento and Schar starting on Tuesday, Steur, maybe Pope, Toure, Murphy.
Still unbeaten!!

I think they will both play.. with them swapping in game as 9/10.
Pardo looked good the little we saw of him.
Oddly we had more possession than Bournemooth, even in the poor first half, which is possibly a good sigh for the future, given how hard bournemooth pressed us.
56% 1st half 60% 2nd half, of course influenced by them diving for free kicks rather than playing through us.

Match of the day showed Jacob deing launched by one of their dive team, made much of Jacob but forgot to show Bournemouth cheat rolling around clutching his face, pretending Jacob had caught him.
Why would you do this?No wonder they have thrown away so many pointsHe has possession and can hurt us from thereChooses to attack our player to trick referee into awarding a foul. https://x.com/CamNufc20/status/2096528953196310689..Match of the day s

Maybe the relief of the training ground being sanctioned for planning permission was another little boost that made fans a little happier too.
Ask boro fans after Hackney goes or after lankshear arrives and you'd get different answers too.
I'd said before, elsewhere, I thought we had about 7.5/10 for this window.
Wissa refinding his form improves that a bit...

Having arrived this summer, the young French goalkeeper is suffering from an ankle injury and underwent a scan this weekend. He now has to consult a specialist and will already miss the next match against Millwall.
The duration of his absence remains unknown.

Looking at a horse called Zimmerman in the 5.51 tomorrow night, dont know why but it reminds me of something that Trackman uses to help him walk

Just under 4 minutes for the pre match press conference for the game tomorrow so no indication of the team. Wild guess at the team. Pope; Dedic; Thiaw; Schar; Hall; Ramsey; Bamba; Steur; Toure; Pardo; Murphy

i think Hall is struggling with minor ian jury so might not be risked.I also think Nico will start, would like to see Ramsey playing No 10 behind Wissa.Cant see why not play strongest team, got 6 days recovery and need to get them used to playing together.

If the young keeper is injured surely he wont risk Hornicek tonight? Has to be Nick Pope in the middle of our goal?

You might be right, I thort I read somebody reporting on jassile comment...
The swinging magpie used to take a bit of ribbing about zimmer frames,... We even found an inflatable one for him. Seems a long time ago

Ewen Jaouen set to see a specialist after ankle injury picked up in training - will miss Millwall.
Could Nick Pope be handed a surprise start?
Tino Livramento not ready to start after returning from injury on Saturday.

Well done winners and hard lines losers.your luck will turn.
I remember years ago one of the older Easterbys saying always back their horses when they were running under pelanties and keep betting them till they got beat.

Very disapointed with last nights performance from some.I will start at the back, defence looked strangers who had just met and spoke 4 different languages.Midfield, none of them can see a forward pass apart from Nico and thats a long diagonal to the wing.Forwards, well in name only,no one in the middle to win headers for the wingers if they got a cross in.Wingers came in too narrow and full backs didnt overlap.Wissa ran about in the defensive midfield area having a competition with Nico on who could give the stupidist free kick away in the most dangerous area.Subs came on andhad to chase long aimless balls that even a collie dog would get sick of chasing. You might think i am having a go at the manager.I am not,its these brainless players who lack the talent and courage to attack in a meaningfull way. Most of the starting 11 have been here a whils now and same old failings came out again. We were crying out for Stuer to come on and make some penetrive forward passes.
All in all a good nights work though and a clean sheet is good.

Agree the performance wasn't the best however the result was achieved. It's only four games in and players are adjusting to a new system.Do we have the correct players to play the system would be my question.Never thought I would say this but we need Will Osula back asap.

As an article in the Mag said "Millwall only gave Newcastle United fans a meagre 2,072 tickets for Tuesday night and they have sold out. This is the basic minimum 10% of capacity allocation that Carabao Cup rules dictate for away fans.
So we are going to have one of those ridiculous situations where there will be a half empty stadium and thousands more Newcastle United fans, especially those living in and around London, would have loved to have gone but Millwall preferring to have empty seats rather than away fans paying for them."
Because of the points system, only the very longstanding season ticket holders could have got a ticket. Madness.

Do you think they were better options than buying wissa?
I think wissa was best buy at the time, and he had a poor season because of injury and silly beggars wanting to engineer transfers.
He's playing a bit deeper now too, and needs players around him to get beyond him from wide positions and midfield.
Pardo and osula alongside him should be explored before spending another 70m to buy a striker.
We wanted that guy from Portugal but he didn't want to come, then got injured.
There's not many oven ready centre forwards around these days and with increased physicality in Premier league I think fewer fancy being battered 38 times a season and burning out.
The scouts will be out looking as wissa is already 30.

Osula is a handful when fit, harldly prolific but that is all we have as a No9 at present. We will have to make do for now. You have 3 n a half months or so to source a centre forward pointa.

If you want to punt it in the air, play him as a 10 with wissa running off him
Or play it to feet, or over the top for speed merchants to chase.
If balls in from wide were a bit better then wissa would shine.

We've not really had a striker jumping for the ball for some time, isak got on end of a few but he made almost zero effort winning 50/50s.
As I say Joelinton is best at it. Woltemade was fouled repeatedly and got nowt so you can't stick with that.
Mitrovic, and Shola were good at it, and big dunc, who did some great work for Shearer.
Good headers of ball who score goals... Ronaldo7 and Haaland, but even Haaland doesnt get a lot of long punts onto his heed. Kane maybe but he's not so hot at 50/50s

Wissa - afore we signed him, in his last season at Brentford:
90 shots - 43 on target 19 goals
15 headers on target (doesnt say if any of them were goals)

Fontaines tickets on sale today, members and season ticket holders, not looked at price, not my favourite type of music, but I'm told they are very popular, and might be doing Glastonbury too.
Good to see the club trying to make more cash.

Barley just won for easterby, somebody had a nice 10k lump on a minute before the off, not me.
They do like backing their winners, and like a punt at Carlisle, apparently.

That man Balding has a couple of early movers at Doncaster this afternoon, in the 3.00 Prizeland is 7/1 in to 5/2, I've got a reduced 4.56 on betfair, but how much of this market move is down to Fairly Glen being withdrawn this morning and an atr tipster tipping it up? we can only guess at, up in class but won going away ina listed race last time, up in distance again for this, anyways I'll be trying to lay this one orf in running sub 2.26 for a freebie. To a lesser extent Storm Blade in the 4.45, just have to keep an eye on it closer to the off.
Haggas horse in the 1.50 went into the notebook on stable debut at York, Tom Marq gave him an awful run would have won with a clear run, this is tougher much tougher but someone likes him 12/1 to 7/1, missed the best prices on here but got 11, will chicken out on this one for a freebie anything under 6.
Muckems at home next round of the cup anyone?
Pochettino says Spurs should be awarded the 2017 PL Title after Chelseas were fined for breaking the rules, maybe he has a point?

Turns out Barcelona ain't got a pot to pish in.First payment for Gordon delayed by a year.Doesn't affect psr/ffp etc etcMight affect selling them a left back... LolHope we are charging interest
Aye, fav in the first has plenty in hand on ratings, would have been on as well if the Haggas horse wasnt in the line up, but now I'm on I'll be happy if I get my freebie in that race tbh.
