Well where do I start on today TAA should have been sent off the ref bottled it; Isak was clean through so it was a definite red; A really good first half with a deserved lead. Couldn't finish them off in the 2nd half and Liverpool took advantage of it and showed how to put the ball in the back of the net so fair play to them for that . Very disappointing that we were beaten by 10 men; just goes to show how far we are off being a real class side; on the plus side; we are not even 2 years into a 5 year plan so hopefully a lesson learnt that will not be repeated

right,heres my take.never been so gutted after a game since the mackems beat us at home in play offs.this was 100 times worse.
i could spend all day saying why but will boil it down to 3 pages.

went a goal up dominating the play,running at them and on the front foot turning them at every opertunity.
went a man up attacking them,running at them and turning them around the box.
preceded to sit back,pass back,stop attacking then took off best 2 players,leaving on slowest most free kick giving players on the pitch.we lost our best defender and put on a left full back,leaving our captain and dominant defender on bench.conceded 2 goals down that left channel that we conceded most of our goals last year and never once won a header in their box whilst attacking.throw in that we had a free kick that trippier was banging in last year from that position and scharr takes it.

if today didnt show we need a centre forward then it never will

1. Almiron and Joelinton are not good enough

2. Brunos form is dire and Howe needs to tell him the pitch isn't a creche for him to bring kids onto when the teams come out. Its cringe and embarrassing no one has had a word with him ffs.

3. They have no cover at centre back for the 2nd season in a row unless a move happens late.

4. Gordon has the potential to be a serious player

5. Burn brings nothing attacking wise.

TAA interview last on MOTD2; he said on another day he would have been given a red; no doubt that other day won't be against Newcastle I know a few on here aren't a big fan of this however I would still like to see the forward line of Gordon or Barnes on the left; Wilson Centre Forward and Isak on the right. I still like Bruno going forward however he cost us one goal yesterday by giving the ball away cheaply yesterday and will cost us a few more as well. Top and bottom of yesterday was you should not be getting beat off 10 men

Lascelles is a right footed centre half as is Fabian Schar.

I don't see a problem with moving BDB in one and bringing in a left back to keep the balance correct.

To start Lascelles you have to drop Schar.

Lascelles cannot play on the left imo

The Q for me is whether BDB is a capable LB or CH and if Matty T is a suitable replacement.

I think both do a job of some sorts but not in the same side unfortunately.

Now the PIF are spending hundreds of millions to energise the Saudi Professional League will they even bother with Newcastle?

In the Premier League they have to compete with other oil states with one arm tied behind their backs by FFP. How long before Newcastle can compete with Abu Dhabi owned City?

In the Arab world 'face' is everything and I doubt losing to Abu Dhabi twice a year for the next 10 years is acceptable to MbS.

That result was a blessing in disguise imho. This team needs realising they are nowhere near good enough.

The transfer window was confusing. They went into the second season knowing full well they had no adequate cover at centre back and choose to spend 60m+ on 2 full backs who it seems will occupy the bench and will be treated as development players. Tonali is a good player but I also think 70m could maybe have been spent on more pressing positions. Barnes its seems another bench player for a big fee.
The elephant in the room is they need to sell in order to reinvest in more players.

I see Bruno being sold next summer. Ashworth has already stated the club sees selling big players as an inevitable part of the business.
It would suit all parties as Newcastle get more funds for transfers and Bruno at the age of 27 goes to a Real Madrid/Barcelona etc...

Looks like he might play but could be a recurring problem meaning he needs to be rested every now and then.  McGinn it is then.  Isak or Rashford?  I went for Isak because of Newcastle's first 4 fixtures, and he's more likely to take pens than Rashford, as Fernandes is more likely to be on the pitch than Wilson.  But it's another tough call.  Rashford perhaps more likely to assist and play more minutes.

Need a win tomorrow; 1st game this season where they haven't played a team who has qualified for a european competition although Brentford have had a good start to the season; will be a good test for them
