Opened an account in good faith, no bonuses or anything involved. First bet on football, returns 65 quid. Tried to withdraw, sent in recent online bank statement, passport and debit card both sides. No chance, got to personally go to the bank and request a paper statement with the official bank STAMP on it! Do i really need all this hassle to withdraw my own money? They absolutely refuse to pay without me getting this document, anyone know how i stand against these jokers?

Had a similar experience with another lesser-known bookie (can't remember the name). Won about 40 quid with first bet tried to withdraw original stake. They asked for too many documents to process the withdrawal. Seemed too much hassle for me, so i ended up using the remaining balance to hedge against other bets, and ended up arbing it away. I won't use them again, tried to close the account, and they didn't respond. So phuck them, they will just have to administer a dead account that will never have any more funds deposited into it. I think some of these smaller firms use this as a tactic, hoping that punters won't bother to withdraw. I know it sticks in the craw letting them away with it, but it might be easier just to arb the balance away and never use them again.

Anyone think the idea is: reject photos/photocopies, make it all a hassle and they know that 90% will just end up losing the balance?

Just use Unibet offers and you will eventually get it onto betfair. ALWAYS self-exclude from bookies who restrict you or p1ss you off in any way.

Yes thanks for that, i probably would arb it but now the account has been closed as i lost it with a live chatter when he cut me off for no reason other than he had no more solutions. Can't be right that they make you do this in the end or even gain the interest on your balance..... G/C are a waste of time trying to get anything useful out of those clowns!

Maybe you coud send them a stern letter, stating that they are illegally holding your money and threatening legal action if they do not give you access to it. It's a long shot, but it might be enough to make them think twice. At least you have tipped off punters on here, and done something to damage their reputation. There are far too many of these mickey mouse betting companies now. It's high time something was done about them, imo.

I have pleaded with them by email to close the account and return 65 quid....i have threatened them with bad publicity over social media and here but they just won't move. Wouldn't mind but for once all the i.d and everything is legit lol. Cannot be right for them to accept your wager and debit card deposit BEFORE the i.d then make it next to impossible if you dare to win. Thought thids mob might be ok as they advertise along with the bigger jokers on RPTV but if i can stop a few sign ups with this experience then job done......UNIBET DO NOT LIKE PAYING OUT!

online statements are no good, too easy to fake. its not the books that make the rules but the gc

Funny that as online statements are good enough for all the rest from my experience. It is 2017 and most people don't get paper statements anymore let alone taking a trip to the high street to get it stamped!

Legally, you've agreed to their T&C's by opening the account but contact the data privacy department (dpa.officer@unibet.com) and ask them to confirm the official bank stamp bollocks and where is it stipulated that they require account holders to carry out this extremely intrusive procedure. No one would open an account if they were aware they'd have to jump through this particularly inconvenient hoop. Forward any reply to your MP (not forgetting to mention they're licensed in Gibraltar) and point out you believe they've taken this measure against you because you won. MPs are under a lot of pressure to rein in bookies sharp practices at the moment (especially Labour MPs) so you should get some joy.

I thought they all accepted photos of statements these days.

I'm not defending the bookmaker, but is it really such a hassle to nip to your bank? Bookmakers close accounts so easily, I think it's better to play their game, take as much as you can off them before they limit you, and move on to the next one

I remember Bwin made me jump through similar hoops a few years back, and I did, but vowed to not bother me with them again. But then a few years after they had a massive price rick which I duly exploited. They limited me to pennies straight away after that Laugh but the effort of getting verified was more than worth it in this instance

The photos of statements are fine with anyone else who asks for them though, apart from the ones who just want you to get so fed up and just lose the balance. Also seeing as you have already sent photos of both sides of the bank card used with that account it is pretty damn obvious it won't be fake won't it - unless I am missing something? Then the passport or driving licence gets sent in and all the names tally up, so how the hell should they even be allowed to tell you to go to your bank and ask for a copy of your statement? It is ludicrous, and if they want you to do all of that to withdraw a few quid, they should make you do it before letting you deposit a single penny in the first place. We all know they wouldn't because you would be long gone and they wouldn't have no customers to exploit.

The industry just seems to be ran by crooks and not a single person in authority gives a toss as long as the crooks pay them their commission.

Just phoned the gambling commission and they were not impressed. She said as long as you prove you are 18 and give a relevant address document then that is fine by them, no paper statement (stamped lol) bo ll ocks. Said that they are presently on a project to ensure that these cowboys verify BEFORE they take a bet......could slow em' down a bit!
