Shocking result. I looked at backing goals in this game or the Bosnia game, thank god I chose the latter. But it was an agonising watch in THAT game, all the way thru, until the late goals at the end. A lucky escape for me. Think I'll give up betting on these internationals - way too stressful!

Has to be the most unbelievable result I've seen at international level - never known of a pre-match 1.01 shot failing to win before tonight.

can only echo everyone elses sentiments, utterly insane result

Pretty sure Uruguay were 1.01 - 1.02 against Jordan in 2013. They won the away leg 5-0 and drew 0-0 at home.

What price were Portugal at home against Cape Verde in 2015, anyone know?

France 1/200 has to be the biggest coupon buster surely this century

Portugal were very low, though they had played a qualifier 48 hours before the game and changed the entire team.
|
|
By:
I think with FIFA increasing size of the tournament to 48 teams in 2026, approximately 16 spots for Europe, we are going to see more games like this, where top teams 'know' they will qualify and put in an average performance.
|
|
By:
Euro 2016 was 24 teams, so Euro qualifiers you will see possibly top teams just putting in 'average' performances in qualifying.

Scotland 1.03 to beat Malta tonight. WTF???
|
|
By:
unfortunately international football throws up too many mismatches, the side that 50/1 has one option to pack the defence, deploy all the dark arts and hope to get a 0-0, the qualification method really needs a rethink as it obstructs the club football that most people would rather be watching

Andorra and San Marino would be 1.01 for this fixture too but would be 1.002 if the odds went that low - Luxemb at 1.01/1.02 was a bit on the weird side - i assumed they had injuries - i'm sure France would normally be around 1.05 for this .
Lux almost nicked it at the end too |

Luxembourg will be able to say that they held the following years World Cup winners

Luxembourg are on a significantly higher level than San Marino and Andorra if I'm not mistaken - I think they have a fair few players who play for second-division sides in France, Germany, Belgium and so on. Andorra and San Marino on the other hand literally barely have a player who's so much as made a living out of professional football at any level.
Obviously that difference doesn't generally show when both of those sets of players come up against serious international opposition and naturally they tend to get whacked either way, but there is a gulf there as far as I can tell. |

Luxembourgish (?) football has certainly made Progres in recent years, that's for sure.
