Defending 101 error from Herrera though. Don't turn your back on the ball like that.

lol "stunning strike"

commentators not noticing deflections is annoying . Sometimes they still talk about stunning strikes after seeing 3 or 4 replays . Barkley won goal of the month with a deflection

Are they underestimating that young Ajax side? Plain

Surely by resting players for the EL they are doing the opposite of that.

Anyway that young Ajax side is the same one that lost 5-2 to Rostov on aggregate this season in CL qualifiers.

Celta Vigo can play better than they did on Thursday. We should beat them but I'm taking it 1 step at a time

Sometimes a young side can "grow" into a tournament, and become a more rounded and effective team as the rounds go on. Not saying they will win, but might be harder for Utd than some think. I still think Mourinho is too negative, and gave up on the League too early. Like he did at Chelsea when City pipped them for the Title, when they were in the driving seat. He undermined his own team's confidence by banging on a about City having more resources.

I think they are made for Utd. An inexperienced attacking side that a poor defensively. Ripe for Mourinho to set up with a strong unit can get goals from their defensive mistakes.

will Jose turn the EPL into "the most boring league in the world"?

On your other point it's debatable I guess. I was in the camp we should have gave up weeks ago, but other teams kept slipping up to make us look like we had a chance. But the reality was when we were in "pole" position we had fixtures we were always going to drop points, so we were never actually likely to finish top 4. I felt it was gone after we drew to West Brom at home like 6 games ago.

With mounting injuries at some point we can't risk anymore.

Utd surely finish 6th or 7th now anyway. Will likely barely win another point this season.

You might be right. Hope it's a decent game, anyway. Happy

Tottenham away next week is a definite loss if we field a team like this. Final day of the season is 3 days before EL final, would have to be mad to play anybody in that game who will play in the EL final.

Utd were never catching Liverpool. Arsenal are more likely. I can see Arsenal winning every game if Liverpool screw up next week (because even Liverpool won't screw up home to Middlesbrough on the last day).

Oh Arsenal are away to Southampton in mid-week, for some reason I thought that was at home.

Would have been only 1 point behind with in today? As it stands Liverpool will *only* need to win 2/3 and one is at home for boro.

Liverpool have 2 games left, away to West Ham and home to Middlesbrough.

To finish top 4 Utd had to beat all of Arsenal, Tottenham, Southampton away and Crystal Palace at hom.

Top 4 was lost weeks ago.

Thursday is what the whole club should be working to.
By:

When: 07 May 17 17:56
And then after that the final which is only 2 weeks away anyway, so there will be lots of resting over those 3 games next week most likely.

It's the smart thing to do, but Utd have to win it otherwise it's been a disastrous season.

Wasn't lost at all door was open before today's match. Risky business putting all your eggs in one basket. Ok for a mid-table Spanish team with limited resources to do, not for a club that have spent £250 million on players in one window.
By:

When: 07 May 17 18:01
What price were Utd to finish top 4 vs win EL though. I didn't actually look after Liverpool's game. I think we were 9.x vs like 1.69 to win EL before the day started.

It's just playing the odds if you look at it like that.

On your last point you're right, but on that point then the "reserves" should be performing better than they did today. Hardly anyone made an impact today and said they should be playing on Thursday/EL final did they, they all basically just said this is why they don't play.

There is a distinct lack of passion in the United squad, not just this second string today. It has to have an impact on the creative players when pretty much all the managers tactics and decisions are based on stopping the opposition rather than creating.
