That's a first. That's not the right thing to do as I've lost money before in such events and never had my money back.

I think they have cancelled. Graph hasn't updated but traded amounts have.
This is a total first and clearly not stated anywhere in their rules. It's a clear move by them I'd guess as they seed the markets and it's cost them. When it's cost me I've not had my money back. It's outrageous and wrong.
they can canel bets after set times, ive seen it myself on the US horse racing with late suspends.
bets before the off stay in and the late ones vannish a few minutes after the mistake.

late suspends and hoovering is a totally different thing. there was no late suspend.

yeah they do clacher, to rectify mistakes with late suspends. but this is different surely?

This is totally different and I've lost money on these user mistakes in the past and not been entitled to a refund, which is fair enough. So why now, have they choosen to do something which is not stated in the rules. And why the other day did they not rectify their huge mistake where a Half Time market wasn't put in play and huge money was snipered in the Juventus Champions League match. Could it be because here they lost money and in the Juventus half time market they didn't lose money.
so basically if the original decision is overturned, by the third official, in say a cricket win market, subsequent bets placed stand, but not in football

What happened in the market there is very serious. So many times market is suspended, a goal is added to their scoreline, money is matched at a wrong price, and then the goal is disallowed and the money matched remains. On what bases are they now going to void it? As punters we should be made aware as it reeks potentially of them voiding it on a whim based on whose money has been matched.

As far as I am concerned, it's not in their rules and there are 0 grounds for the bets to be voided.

What they have done seems fair enough to me. Maybe in future they won't un suspend until they kick off again from center spot.

It's fair if they do it all the time. It's cost me money in the past nothing done plus it's not in their rules. It's opening pandoras box.

Exactly. As I said, Juventus Half Time odds were not put in play the other day, someone snipered huge amounts after a goal was scored. Nothing was done and in their rules it says it should have been voided. Yet here they go out of their way to do something which isn't in their rules. Stinks.

Can't help but think, especially with PP being involved, that potentially they now seed markets in house, and this mistake cost them a bit so they voided, yet in other cases they profited and nothing was done. That's just a potential theory.
So next time I place a bet on a team who they say have gone 1 up but it is disallowed, we can come back to this and say, excuse me I want my bet voided.

exactly Rider, it was a mistake by the suspend monkey not holding long enough knowing the new technology was in place this evening. but that doesn't give Betfair the right to go cancelling bets because their suspend monkey is incompetent!

They never void bets on what was an open market. Nothing in their rules say's they should void that bet. The market was suspended and re-opened. User's place there bets at their own discretion. What they did was wrong.
Nothing in the rules says they need to re-suspend a market if a goal is disallowed, whether that be a linesman or fourth official. I'll write and enquire as the exchange needs to be a level playing field, they can't pick and choose when these bets are voided.
but its their ball and all that, they can do what they want, i'm sure it says this somewhere in the t&c!, they'll be no long term problems because they are an effective monolpoly
I hate this new concept of video referee aswell. I don't want delays while they decide if the goal that was scored suits FIFA/UEFA before awarding it.

They did suspend the market on time. They just didn't hold the suspend long enough technically, because the suspend operator forgot about the possibility of technology interference
say goodbye to late drama...ie a team 1-3 down on the 88th minute and then scoring an 'offside goal' in the 90th and going on to equalise in the 92nd because the enthusiasm will be non-existing after the 90th minute goal was ruled offside by the video referee
