I like the new Man utd business plan of the last few years since Fergie retired, waste at least £100 million on signings every summer without any improvement on the pitch and zilch chance of winning the premier league and fail to qualify for the champions league, what a plan, long may it continue Laugh

Fact is the Man U forward line pales when compared to what city and chelsea have to offer, let alone with those of madrid and barca.
The problem is that the riches which ought to be employed putting Man U head and shoulders above the EPL opposition are being used to service the Glazers debt.
Utd are miles behind City and Chelsea in terms of ambition and achievement at the moment.

Can never understand why people try and maintain this 'Glazers holding United back' stuff . The Glazers are the best owners Man United have ever had . Arsenal Fans dream of Glazer ownership.

They came in with a plan to borrow a fortune , pass the debt onto the club , revolutionize the revenue situation , pay off the debt and still provide enough money for United to compete for the best players with anyone.

It sounded absurd and shouldn't have been legal imo , and understandably people predicted United would be fkd and maybe end up on the level of Sunderland perhaps.

But it has worked out exactly as they said it would . Why anyone pretends otherwise beats me.

They have easily outspent City and Chelsea since Fergie left , and it is very clear now that the only thing stopping them spending before that was Fergie himself.

The fact that they are nowhere near being the best on the pitch is entirely down to the people running the actual football side of things.

And no i don't think Mourinho is in any danger of being sacked if don't make Top 4.

Moyes went because he just revealed himself to be the average manager a lot of people outside of the media thought he was , rather than the genius supposedly held back only by lack of funds at Everton.

Van Gaal had to go because he was revealed to be a nut who would go on trying the same things that clearly weren't working.

Mourinho has obviously proved himself an elite manager and they will not make a judgement that he is past it based on 1 season.

Imagine if they did sack him and then Tuchel or whoever is in the interview ; first thing he would ask Woodward ' will i be sacked next May if i don't make Top 4 '

If United had an owner that put in a billion instead of taking out would they have better players?

No !

To say that they'd have better players you have to point to players they would have signed but for the Glazers not coming up with the cash .

Who is there really ? They don't have Messi , but is that because they can't afford him ? I think they would pay £200M for him like a shot . They paid £90M for Pogba and regulary you hear they will offer over £100M for Bale or Neymar . With what they've spent since 2014 i am happy to believe that .

If those players - the best players in the world - aren't at United , then it's because they are happy where they are , and what can United do then.

I suppose also people will point out the top players that left during Glazer ownership.

There are only 3

Ronaldo - left United because he saw playing for Real Madrid as part of his destiny . Did not go for money, he is not especially motivated by money. He did at one point have a clause in his contract saying he had to be the highest paid player in the world , but that was just an ego/status thing , and he waived it now as he doesn't want to go to China.

Tevez - left United because Fergi decided he was worth £25M , he heard City were offering £47M and just laughes , the Glazers were never asked for more.

Pogba - left United because he believed he should be in the starting 11 but was still seen as a Carling Cup player by SAF , again money no issue so Glazers not to blame.

Man City have outspent Utd since Fergie left. City spent around 534m to Utd's 514m roughly.

Glazers holding Utd back is probably overplayed, but bare in mind if they had ownership similar to say Bayern or anyone without any debt they would have more money than any club in the world so in that sense Glazers are holding them back. Whether that's affecting them in real terms is debatable, as they don't seem to be that restricted in the transfer market anyway.

And I do think it's hard to paint Mourinho's season as anything but failure if they don't get top 4 and don't win EL (though I expect them to do at least one of these). With the money spent, the squad they have this would be vast underachievement really, and Mourinho has been responsible for a lot with poor team selections especially earlier in the season.

he is getting away with it really. only slightly better than LVG in terms of the points total united are heading for which was a pretty low base anyway. can only imagine LVG would be getting it with both barrels if 6th at this stage of the season and looking odds against for a top 4 finish

everyone keeps banging on about this run of 1 loss in 27 or whatever it is but that includes lots of draws against poor teams in the league and beating mainly low grade opposition in the cups. spurs are the only proper side beaten and faced no one of consequence away from home in that run

They paid 90mill for Pogba!!...still can't get my head around that....how much must David Silva be worth...the gulf in class between

the two is incredible...in fact we couldn't believe how pedestrian the Utd midfield was in general on Saturday....shocking for the money spent tbf.

The Utd fans are hardly singing his praises so far though mafe. It could still become a good season, but no-one is saying he's doing an amazing job right now.

David Silva must be one of the most overrated players ever. He pretty much typifies Premier League overhype. Can you ever remember him changing a game in Europe? He's nearly always anonymous in Europe, and somehow avoids getting any stick for it. Sky propaganda would have you believe he's one of the best players in the world.

Isn't my impression and I read RedCafe as well. I mean yer if you listen to the radio after they won the EFL Cup you will get some getting carried away, but then a week later after Bournemouth it would be the other way anyway.

You might think that Silva is overrated n88uk but I can only speak as I find...David Silva has torn us apart anytime we have played City...they are the one big team we haven't got near tbf....we were laughing at Pogba on Saturday he was so bad....the sigh of relief was audible every time he got the ball.

You can have all the money in the world but if you do not buy the right players or develop them and have the right manager then you have a problem , we have spent over 400 million since Fergie went and wasted a lot of it, the pressure is big at United the players have a lot to live up to considering Uniteds history for some of them the pressure is too much

rommel if he had put away half the chances he should have, you'd be smiling tother side of your face. Hopefully he'll hit the target more often from here on in and be top midfield scorer in the EPL next season. I'm smiling because rather than Pogba we could have Henderson.....now that WOULD be worrying. Soon as Pogba gets a rest for a couple of games he'll come back firing....

Some of his pressure has actually gone now because the FA have actually rested Ibra for him. Now all he has to do is find rest time for Pogba who has been seriously flagging last few matches
