I have had an interesting couple of days with the alleged bookmaker Betfred.  I opened an account via the oddschecker link to take advantage of the "bet £10, get a £30 free bet" offer.  I placed my £10 bet which lost then waited..and waited..for the £30 free bet to be credited to my account without any joy.  Eventually I emailed them to be told that as someone from this address has an account (true) then I did not qualify for the £30 free bet. I then suggested there was two options available to them...

1/ Honour me the £30 bet as it was placed in good faith.
or
2/ Refund me the £10 stake as a void bet as it had been accepted in error through a promotion link which their software had identified I did not qualify for.

They did neither, needless to say. They simply closed my account without any refund.

Baldys empire will come crashing down with the FOBT £2 max limit.
oh, wait a minute, he's a bookie, he said he lays bigger bets than anybody out there, so the Fobts won't matter..

Just to clarify. Someone from my address had an existing account which was true. It wasn't me though.

their offers are usually one per household or ip address
which is usually clearly stated

doesnt stop them being an awful bookie though

still they have plenty of shops up here so cant knock em too much

Their software had identified the one per household/ip address but they still took and settled my bet despite me not qualifying for the offer I had applied to receive through their advert.

Paul was very helpful in the past when I had an issue with Coral and can recommend him without hesitation.  I haven't exhausted correspondence with Betfred as yet though.

FFS...you clearly contravened the t's and c's.

Man up , swallow the tenner loss and move on .

Don't be bothering yer man 'Paul' with trivial sh1te like this.

No doubt I didn't qualify for the offer under the terms and conditions. Why take my tenner though?

Did u have a bet with your tenner or just donate it to them?

I had a bet which lost. Depositing and placing a tenner bet is part of the terms and conditions of the promotional offer.  Once it is settled, the £30 free bet is credited to your account.

1 per household and has been since as far as i can remember

tbh though i have had 3 or 4 ladbrokes all under my name and got the bonus they must know who to scam

get back on live chat or the phone and give it two barrels if you really need that ten spot

I understand how free bets work.  You need to understand if you contravene the ts and cs you don't qualify. Caveat Emptor.

Bad luck on the losing bet.

Now f**k off and stop whinging about a tenner.

By the way, if the tenner bet had won, I suspect they would have voided it.

As their software had identified my address on the registration page, I should not have been allowed to progress to the deposit stage.

If they recognized my address i would have been of that page quicker than a rat up a drainpipe

You are going to get hit harder than £10 in the future if you sign up to sh1t through links that then load your address for you

I lasted 40 mins and three bets with BetFred. After that they suspended my account with some bogus KYC issue. It took me around a month via E-mail to get funds released.

Well worth avoiding them.

You have to remember I applied directly through an advertised link of Betfred's for the promotional offer, I didn't log on directly through their homepage.

You make no sense or are trolling now

You already admitted someone has an account not YOU

So you are allowed an account just not the bonus

You joined here in 05 FFS so you should be at least 29 i reckon you must be on your Daddys account

They probably breached the Data Protection Act if they told you somebody at the same address had an account with them.....

It would probably be obvious who that is, and they may well be very disappointed that BtFd are telling you that they gamble online.

Maybe they should complain to the Information Commissioner about this company giving out extremely personal information at the drop of a hat......
By:

Well that's an interesting angle. To be fair to Betfred they didn't say who it was that had an account at my address but as it's only my young lady and I that stay here there is a fair chance I would have been able to work it out.
By:
kevinglass
When: 12 Dec 16 19:43
Quite, and that's why they shouldn't have told you.

It also explains why many online firms SAY only 1 account per address, but they actually allow more, as they cannot say there is another account at the address.

Equally if they deny you the offer, they are also more or less confirming that there is an account there, without saying as such.

So they're caught in a catch 22 situation.

I expect the existing account holder is somewhat distressed you now know they are a bit of a gambler.......

They always see there is already an account linked to this address if there is one and you ask

Same if you sign up to BT then try again they will say you already have  a connection i don't think you will go far with this malarkey
