Remember this Grin

TRIBUTES are being paid to Scotland this morning after the entire country laughed itself to death.

The alarm was first raised at around 10pm last night as thousands of phone calls and text messages went unanswered.

Small groups of volunteers from Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Carlisle ventured north just after midnight only to find houses full of dead people gathered around still blaring television sets.

By dawn, as RAF helicopters flew over deserted city streets, it was clear that the whole country had suffered a catastrophic abdominal rupture.

Wayne Hayes, a special constable from Northumberland, said: "We went into one house in Dunbar and found three men sitting on the sofa with huge smiles on their faces, still holding cans of 70 shilling. They seemed to be at peace."

He added: "In a house near Edinburgh we found a man face down on the living room floor with his trousers and pants round his knees.

"It seems he may have been showing his bare buttocks to the television when he keeled over."

Roy Hobbs, a civil engineer from Northampton, said: "I got a call from my friend Ian in Stirling at about 9.50pm.

"He was already laughing when I answered the phone, but after about 25 minutes of the most vigorous and uncontrollable hilarity, everything suddenly went very quiet."

Moving tributes are already being placed along the Scotland-England border with many mourners opting to leave a simple bag of chips or a deep fried bunch of flowers.

As for being a pitiable backwater, what do you think Scotland is? a Major European power?

How strong do you think your hand is without the rest of the UK to back you when you apply to join the EU? Stronger than the UK's whilst leaving it? - I don't think so.

Be sure that where Sturgeon is taking you is somewhere you want to go, it's ok hating England which is your national pastime, but you won't be able to blame us when you've got the Euro and stuck inside the EU and powerless.

Stay or go, I don't care, just stop whining when things don't go your way after a democratic process. I wonder what else Sturgeon will choose to ignore once you're 'free' of nasty old England?

Elections?

What's next? a future election that doesn't go the SNP's way, but Glasgow for example voted strongly SNP so it's now undemocratic and void - does she ask for a re-run or threaten to pull Glasgow out of Scotland?

What do you think about a leader who consistently just ignores democracy?

Quick reminder of how the EU reacts to referenda.

Eight since 2002.

Two were accepted as they were voting to join the Euro, Denmark and Sweden. The other six referenda that didn't go the EU's way were either ignored by the EU, or the country was made to vote again when the EU got the result it wanted.

So you can by all means have a referendum, but only the EU can win.

When the snp is the ruling party in hollyrood
They returned 49 mps out of 51 or whatever it is to westminster
When the best part of two thirds of scottish people voted to remain in the eu in the brexit vote
Now I am no sherlock holmes but I detect that is a good enough reason to call for a vote for scotland to leave the uk

100% correct. She'll be alright whatever happens. When they've left and they're broke inside the EU with a disastrous currency, she'll be in her Ivory Tower with Salmond eulogising about Scottish freedom while the peasantry pick up the pieces.

It's funny but the greatest benefit of currently being in the EU as the UK is that we kept our currency, Sturgeon wants to throw the greatest advantage away and then re-join gagged and bound to the Euro.

I'll tell you something else as well, they won't give a f**k what's she's got to say in Brussels, there will be no political opportunism within the EU, she'll be told what's happening and she'll lump it.

Difficult to argue with Meadow as he's been brainwashed by the SNP cult but here goes.

Firstly Meadow Scotland aren't a member state of the EU, it is the UK that has that status and EU regulations state that Scotland would need to apply for membership and with their current GDP, for instance, outwith the stated criteria this would be problematic.
All this getting someone in one or two of the countries to endorse the SNPs stance and approach is a nonsense as all member states would need to agree to their own rules being ignored to allow Scotland in.

Secondly it's not as simple as that re currency. The rest of the UK can legally stop Scotland using the GBP although they could still call their currency the pound albeit a Scottish one. However for EU membership Scotland would need to adopt the Euro.

This appealing to the EU (stand by us as we stood by you Laugh)is nothing but posturing from Sturgeon with the end goal independence albeit anyone of sound mind will know that bankruptcy won't be far behind.

Why is Sturgeon so desperate to access the EU markets whilst potentially turning her back on the UK markets which are worth far more?
Report DirkDiggler June 29, 2016 4:20 PM BST
Scots have clearly been told that they can do anything they like on their own terms if they leave the UK.

Anyone who watched the Scots ref will remember that the SNP were asked time and time again what they were going to do for a currency because they would not be allowed to keep sterling - they could never answer that question.

Scots seem to think that the entire UK establishment is going to just let them wander off clutching the pound and then that the EU is going to let them join with it.

Complete national delusion.

JP Morgan sees new Scottish currency initially backed by BoE, ECB

JP Morgan said on Thursday a Scottish currency in a newly independent Scotland could initially be stabilised near parity with sterling by the Bank of England and European Central Bank, given their strong mutual interest in ensuring stability there.

The U.S. bank created a stir in financial markets on Wednesday by saying its "base case" forecast now is that Scotland gains independence and introduces its own currency before Britain leaves the European Union in 2019.

A Scottish central bank would face huge challenges, such as having no access to sterling reserves large enough to underpin a lender of last resort facility for Scotland's financial sector.

"We could imagine a framework where both the ECB and the Bank of England made some small portion of their reserves available to assist in the management of the new currency upon its launch," JP Morgan economist Malcolm Barr said.

"There could be an initial commitment to try and stabilize the new currency near parity to the pound, with interest rates set by a Scottish central bank above those set by the Bank of England," Barr said in a note to clients.

All countries joining the EU are obliged to join the euro at some point, but there is no pre-set time frame. This could take years for Scotland, Barr said, citing the example of Sweden which still uses its own currency.

Scotland voted to stay in the EU in last week's referendum, putting it at odds with the United Kingdom as a whole, which voted 52-48 percent in favour of Brexit.
