Meadow I discovered about 3 hrs ago that this political genius DickJiggler does not know the facts and has his own particular twisted ideas based on these wrong presumptions. His main driver is that, the Scots hate the English, and that everything in turn stems from that.
I will repeat my original comment ......no I will not bother he is not worth the energy. |

much as I would love to disagree with scots hater DD, the EU has recently suggested that every member state will have to convert to the euro, but now that the germans want a referendum on leaving the EU, there probably won't be an EU if they vote to leave since germany pay even more into the EU than UK did.

Scots hater? Not me, but I thought it was time they got a taste of their own medicine. If they're not hating England, they're hating each other over Celtic/Rangers, and we've seen nothing yet on that score, wait until the new SPL season begins. As I said, there's no pick and choose your currency in the EU. People all around Europe are sick and tired of the centralist undemocratic EU, they just needed one country with the courage to begin the process. |

Dirk, you are such an expert on currency that I am sure you will be able to answer these simple questions.
What currency do the following EU countries use? a/ France b/ Poland c/ Luxembourg d/ Ireland e/ Denmark f/ Romania g/ Malta |

Meadow if sturgeon wants independence do you not think it is a bit hypocritical to want sterling independence means just that as the Brussels seethers are letting the UK know

What currency do the following EU countries use? a/ France b/ Poland c/ Luxembourg d/ Ireland e/ Denmark f/ Romania g/ Malta I'm still waiting for you to tell me what currency you're going to use out of the UK but in the EU. Can you crack on a bit with this as you've had all night to come up with an answer and it's now 1:07 PM in the afternoon. |

I see your lack of knowledge of currency of EU countries in my question knows no bounds. Go on, have a guess.

My knowledge of EU currencies is fine pal, now tell what currency the Scots are going to use? |

Let them go, they seem determined to. I'm interested to see who they blame for everything in future. |

Dirk, perhaps you were drunk last night and couldn't remember what I said so there it is above, just for you.
Now, are you going to try my simple EU currency quiz ? |
|
By:
Sadly for you, that's not true, you'll be in the Euro.

If you'd have paid attention to the Scots referendum you'd have known that time and time again you were warned over and over that you would not be keeping Sterling.

Your lack of knowledge of EU currencies knows no bounds.
Your delusions about Scotland's realities knows no bounds. I really don't think you watched any of the Scots ref campaign, if you did you'd have known that all three major political parties ruled out Scotland keeping Sterling if they chose to leave. ![]() |

Only trying to be helpful by introducing some facts. An independent Scotland would simply remain an EU member as they are now. As such, they can choose to retain the pound, switch to the Euro or any currency they fancy. As I said earlier plenty of countries in the EU retain their own currency and are not in the Eurozone. |
|
By:
1. Scotland will have to re-apply to join the EU.
2. You won't be taking the pound with you when you leave the UK. 3. You'll have the Euro. |
|
By:
Difficult to argue with Meadow as he's been brainwashed by the SNP cult but here goes.
Firstly Meadow Scotland aren't a member state of the EU, it is the UK that has that status and EU regulations state that Scotland would need to apply for membership and with their current GDP, for instance, outwith the stated criteria this would be problematic. All this getting someone in one or two of the countries to endorse the SNPs stance and approach is a nonsense as all member states would need to agree to their own rules being ignored to allow Scotland in. Secondly it's not as simple as that re currency. The rest of the UK can legally stop Scotland using the GBP although they could still call their currency the pound albeit a Scottish one. However for EU membership Scotland would need to adopt the Euro. This appealing to the EU (stand by us as we stood by you )is nothing but posturing from Sturgeon with the end goal independence albeit anyone of sound mind will know that bankruptcy won't be far behind. Why is Sturgeon so desperate to access the EU markets whilst potentially turning her back on the UK markets which are worth far more? |
|
By:
Scots have clearly been told that they can do anything they like on their own terms if they leave the UK.
Anyone who watched the Scots ref will remember that the SNP were asked time and time again what they were going to do for a currency because they would not be allowed to keep sterling - they could never answer that question. Scots seem to think that the entire UK establishment is going to just let them wander off clutching the pound and then that the EU is going to let them join with it. Complete national delusion. |
|
By:
On the 10th of June this year Sturgeon said that an independent Scotland would use the £ yet on the 21st she changed this to the euro.
That's a common trait with her and her MPs. |
|
By:
Sturgeon on her way back from Brussels and she's now fully aware just how little power and influence she has.

She's the queen of spin though and we'll get a "reading between the lines they are giving us their full support" quote.

JP Morgan sees new Scottish currency initially backed by BoE, ECB
JP Morgan said on Thursday a Scottish currency in a newly independent Scotland could initially be stabilised near parity with sterling by the Bank of England and European Central Bank, given their strong mutual interest in ensuring stability there. The U.S. bank created a stir in financial markets on Wednesday by saying its "base case" forecast now is that Scotland gains independence and introduces its own currency before Britain leaves the European Union in 2019. A Scottish central bank would face huge challenges, such as having no access to sterling reserves large enough to underpin a lender of last resort facility for Scotland's financial sector. "We could imagine a framework where both the ECB and the Bank of England made some small portion of their reserves available to assist in the management of the new currency upon its launch," JP Morgan economist Malcolm Barr said. "There could be an initial commitment to try and stabilize the new currency near parity to the pound, with interest rates set by a Scottish central bank above those set by the Bank of England," Barr said in a note to clients. All countries joining the EU are obliged to join the euro at some point, but there is no pre-set time frame. This could take years for Scotland, Barr said, citing the example of Sweden which still uses its own currency. Scotland voted to stay in the EU in last week's referendum, putting it at odds with the United Kingdom as a whole, which voted 52-48 percent in favour of Brexit. . http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-eu-scotland-jpmorgan-idUKKCN0ZG13S |
