Backing Mathias Corvinus first scorer.
By:
Austria odds are great. I literally know nothing about Hungary, but is the fact that I can name a single player from Hungary enough to back Austria?
By:
Hungary got creditable draws against Croatia and the Ivory Coast in friendlies leading up to the tournament. I think it'll be a closer game than the odds suggest.
By:
UNDERS @1.05 for me. gl all
By:
Hungary are the worst team in the tournament. They only have 2 players who play in 2 of the top countries in Europe and
one of them is the championship in England. The others all play in tin pot leagues. Their goalie is near 40 if not 40. Absolutely stinking. Think Northern Ireland without the defensive tactics. Austria an absolute gift at 4/5 |
By:
NO, I CAN"T HAVE THAT as the Major in Fawlty towers would say
Ireland and Sweden are the worst sides in the tourney - absolute dog muck the pair of them. |
By:
They are both terrible, agree!
However, Hungary are in a league of their own when it comes to dog muck. They were very lucky to qualify (in the play offs) against Norway despite the results, Norway battered them but just couldn't put the ball in the net. They struggled to beat the Faroe Islands in a must win game in their group. 1 -0 down at home after 60 minutes, eventually scraped a 2-1, finished 5 points behind Northern Ireland in their group who looked effing terrible against Poland. Seriously this Hungary team will shock a few today as to how bad they are now they're playing a decent side in Austria. |
By:
Scotland must be worse than dog muck in that case. Pig sh!t?
By:
can see a few goals in this,over 1.5 ht,overs 2.5,3.5 & 4.5 90 mins.
By:
No Mikael. Hungary were in a group with Northern Ireland, Finland, The faoroes and a Greece team who were in turmoil.
Scotland were in a group with the world champions Germany and Poland, you see the difference? Not that Scotland are good by the way! |
By:
Sort of like Austria, as a dark horse, but the write Hungary off is mug thinking. Their results in qualifying were very solid, regardless of how many of their players you can name. And in the likes of Dzsudzsak, Szalai and Nemeth they have some dangerous players.
Price on Austria is correct, imo |
By:
Try that again. I sort of like Austria, as a dark horse, but to write Hungary off is mug thinking
By:
By:
Disagree. Hungary are woeful. Their 'solid results' were against absolute crap. Austria are better than anything they've faced
in an important game recently. We'll know sooner or later |
By:
Hungarry have been muck for decades tho, so no surprise in the odds. I'll be on over 3.5, don't care what the result is.
CMON THE GOALS |
By:
Northern Ireland aren't absolute crap, neither are Romania or Finland
By:
Problem I have with Austria is for every Fuchs, Alaba or Arnautovic, they have some mug playing for a crap Bundesliga side
By:
I'm no Scotland fan these days but Scotland had +8 goal difference over Hungary and 1 point less, from a much harder group.
By:
Suppose it's all about opinion but to me, Northern Ireland are indeed crap as are Finland.
By:
You've put a compelling case james but having no idea myself I'm worried about their recent results...beat by both the turks and suiss...scraped past malta and Albania...help me out with that

By:
Well duff, even as much as I think Hungary are woeful, it is football. It's a cliche but it's true, anything can happen.
If you're unsure, at 4/5 you can afford to leave it out. Keep your powder dry and be happy with your racing profits ![]() |
By:
That's no good james, it's on the telly so it's a definite bet....put it on record and watch in between the racing
![]() .....what you reckon....Austria minus 2![]() |

Austria 3-0 Hungary

Austria HT/FT Duffers 2/1

By:
i think given this is the european championships and the game is live on terrestrial tv, betfair (among others) will open their facility to take bets after the game has kicked off on it.
unless you think Austria are going to go 3-0 up in the first 5 minutes, cant you just wait until you see these sides line up before betting? |
By:
overs for me... ones got to come in
![]() |
By:
Ah well if it's a must bet game then just lump on Austria in the 90 mins, no bells and whistles fancy bets, just a solid win

By:
Normally I'd watch the first 10 minutes or so to see what it looks like, but Ascot and Thirsk are going to prohibit that so on this occasion I'm going to have to rely on the esteemed forum for enlightenment.

No Mikael. Hungary were in a group Though my post appeared immediately after yours, at the same time, it was clearly (though not clearly enough, apparently) intended to be in response to Platini's 'Ireland are absolute dog muck' comment. Absolute dog muck that qualified, along with a decnt enough Polish side as well as the current world champions, unlike his beloved Scotland |

If Doggie Muck has a Scottish gran and plays for an English championship club, the ginger wizard will call him up.
