I have a Pinnacle Sports Account which is registered at an Irish address when I was living there for a few months. But now back living in the UK, I'm going carry on using Pinnacle Sports making deposits and withdrawal through my Irish bank account. I was wondering what if whoever it is who is in charge 'Gambling commission or HMRC' found out, what would happen?

Don't think they would be able to arrest me to any crime or the one thing I'm worried about is having my funds confiscated by either the government or Pinnacle themselves.

I highly doubt either party would confiscate any funds, but you will need to bet via a vpn/proxy, as Pinnacle won't accept any bets from a UK IP address, even if the account is registered in Ireland.

If you're overly paranoid about it, you could go down the agency route (Asian Connect, Premium Tradings etc), but then you have the possibility that the agent runs off with your money (though I have used both of these services since Pinny left the UK 18 months ago, and haven't had any issues with either).

Do these agent nick any points off the price being offered by Pinnacle or SBO? Just wondered how these agents make money. Always worried with agents that you won't be paid.

They take the commission from the books.

I use Asian Connect and never had any problems.

I guess agents make money as an affiliate. 0.2% on turnover for any accounts signed up through them or whatever the deal is.

They really should get a UK licence. The tax is on gross profits and their costs must be low as they do not advertise much.

They make money in two ways;

1) They get a small % of your turnover off the book. They will often share this with you (ie I get 0.15% of my turnover through SBO and Pinnacle with PT, so I assume they get 0.2-0.3% off the books).

2) They will profile their customers bets and follow the ones they think are worth following and expect to be profitable.

frog, if they had a UK Gambling Licence, I'm not sure that they would be liable to pay any tax (from a gambling/gaming perspective), as they will effectively make a gross and net loss from the bets they lay to their clients.

I don't believe there is any legislation that would allow HMRC/UKGC to confiscate your funds.

Pinnacle might though if they feel you have breached their terms.

re agents - any dealing with UK customers are criminals and de-facto money launderers.  You have no idea what other activities they are involved with.

If you do go down the path of using an agent. Bin Singbet straight away, it's just not worth the couple of extra points to risk getting winning bets voided.

I would add that Pinnacle have signaled an intent to return to the UK 'at some point later this year', so it may not be a problem for more than 9 months.

Hope so ted. Hope sbobet follow suit. Those 2 books are the best in the business by a distance for me.

Indeed; Pinny are head and shoulders above anyone else.

SBO are great also, but I find their limits frustratingly low on some sports/markets that I like to bet on. If you're just betting soccer asian handicaps and totals, then they're as good as Pinnacle.

If Pinnacle do come back to the UK, their margins for UK players might increase to pay the 15% UK gambling tax.
