Now the Premier League season has gone past the half way mark I'd like to draw your attention to what could be either a large piece of egg over my face or a very good value for money situation

First of all many congratulations to AFC Bournemouth for coming up to the Premier League last year. I have watched your progress from an objective position, in that I'm not your run of the mill football fan, and in fact don't have a hot wired link to any specific Football team apart from being a long suffering England supporter.

Jumping to the monthly stats so far for season 2015/16

August W1 D1 L2
September W1 D0 L2
October W0 D1 L2
November W0 D2 L1
December W3 D1 L1

The December wins(3) involved wins against Man U and Chelsea when these clubs were both under a black cloud as far as management were concerned, well now it's a new year and a new month and anything can happen, but as far as I can see from previous monthly stats Bournemouth should revert back they way before December.

It's those two fortunate wins that has made the Bournemouth price drift in the relegation market as if they are now exempt from dropping down and cemented the position of Sunderland & Newcastle as certainty to go down with Aston Villa.

I don't believe believe Bournemouth are better then Man U or Chelsea they simply acquired 6 points with good fortune on their side

Game on

Didn't see that one coming at all. Fair play to West Ham, they were knocking the door down from the off. Bournemouth still available at 5-1 on here for relegation, so hopeful that last night was a blip.

Swansea are a value pick for relegation, imo, 4's. Some guy in charge nobody's heard of, wouldn't be surprised if it was similar to the Carver situation last season, although obviously the guy won't be as big a mug as carver. I think the only thing that comes close to being as big a mug as Carver is an actual porcelain mug

Another game goes against the expectations of the bottom three teams being Aston Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle

With Sunderland winning away 4-2, Bournemouth are now that much closer to the so called safety zone.

Bournemouths game with Norwich will be a true test of character....will they be good enough or will the failure to win against West Ham take its toll and neg them out....more to follow

Your bet is looking a lot better than I had anticipated. You are spot on about Saturday...Bournemouth lose and they are right in the deep stuff. Swansea, however, look in real trouble.

Start of the season I said Bournemouth will go down despite a few good results I still think they will.  Eddie Howe is the new Sean Dyche, who took Burnley up then straight back down despite being the new young hot manager.

Also down Swansea and Villa.
Report Gabriel January 15, 2016 11:46 PM GMT
One more nail in the Bournemouth coffin is their current home record.... just 2 wins

After 10 home games they are placed 2nd to last with only Aston Villa below them with 1 win

See table from soccerstats.com at my Twitter link @mostlose  https://twitter.com/mostlose/status/688141998016970752

Saturday's game for Bournemouth is at home against Norwich and it looks like a draw to me, but with the market price of evens(ish) for a home win (yes they are favourite in spite of only winning just twice at home this season) it may be worth a lay, but not for much
Report Gabriel January 16, 2016 5:14 PM GMT
Eeek....not what I expected....but Bournemouth have got to win at some time.

Glad to see how the relegation safety zone has moved up a few notches in regard to Newcastles position and the fall of Norwich.

Next Saturday Bournemouth playing away at Sunderland and big Sam won't go down without a fight

Swansea may well have something to say to the final placings

The relegation situation is far from over

More to follow.....

But Sunderland will still probably lose that game, as Bournemouth are a far better side than made out on here and they definatly weren't fluke wins against Man U and Chelsea, both very average sides and its import that beat very average side which they did.

had bournemouth to go down with villa and norwich at start of season. Would replace them with swansea now. Swansea have 19 points, 8 of them were picked up in August in the first 4 games. 11 points in 17 games, they are in freefall and have been for some time.

Arsenal sold Afobe to wolves for a reported £2m last Jan. Wouldn't be surprised if he does v well at Bournemouth. No surprise to see them spending that sort of cash either. Every PL club can pay those fees nowadays.

Well, we beat Bournemouth just as comfortably in the first match, so I wouldn't get carried away. And don't forget you're splashing insane, reckless amounts on players, whereas we're operating within our means. Gap is nothing between our two clubs, imo

Report lurka January 18, 2016 4:04 PM GMT
how are the amounts insane/reckless when they will get 60m+ in tv money (+ parachute payments at the very least) and write the cost of those players off over the length of their contracts under FFP? They've spent about £35-40m since they came up and the rest of their squad cost about 2.5m. The bottom team from next year will get at least 90m in tv money (+ even larger than current parachute payments).

Nothing like Leeds or Pompey, not gambling with future PL revenue at those amounts.
Report call it a day January 18, 2016 8:40 PM GMT

Would not be so sure that they won't get at least a point from us, we played better against Spurs yesterday, but home form overall is fairly dreadful, with no one scoring and eyes seemingly on sustaining a cup run rather than consolidating League safety, wouldn't be the biggest surprise if they took all three from us.

A couple of weeks have passed since Bournemouths away win against an under performing Crystal Palace and THREE times Bournemouth have lost at home (Arsenal, Stoke and now Everton in the FA Cup)

To recap during 2016, Bournemouth have won TWICE. The two games, against Norwich and Crystal Palace, resulted in BOTH of these teams currently holding the worst premier last six games, so to read into these previous two success that Bournemouth are destined to be mid table and I'm down and out is a bit premature

The latest test is now away against Watford, if Bournemouth lose that the relegation price will come down to a more realistic price from its current 8/1
