My two big losses this season have been due to the arrogant, fat-headed pleb and his football philosophy of it being okay to not have any shots at goal. Four 0-0 draws at home so far, did Fergus have that many in his entire time at the club?

What research went into replacing Moyse - someone got it badly wrong. Did they take notice of the press or did Van Galling have a proper interview. If he did, how did he convince them that he was the man for the job. Multi-million pound decisions made by amateurs.

van gaal is a manager who can get the best out of young, unproven players. He can order them around and get them to do all his little jobs on the pitch. When it comes to managing established stars, egos, they rebel and don't like to be told what to do and get the hump. They don't do what he wants in the same way and it doesn't work.
Also, need to get rid of Rooney. Hasn't been good enough for a couple of years. Spend all the money you want but it is pointless with him in the side.

Van Gaal was appointed on the rebound from Moyes.
Managerial appointments depend on how the previous 'relationship' has gone .If it has gone well they will look to try a find a replica for the next one .If badly they will go with the opposite. This will be done in a very superficial way so the whole picture is not considered.
So Ferguson went well - to say the least - they think, in a superficial way , 'what was it about this guy?' .They conclude 'well he was Scottish and kinda of a determined character' .This Moyes bloke is overflowing with determined Scottishness and they don't think any deeper than that.
Only when Moyes is shown to be out of his depth do they ask more questions about him that they should have asked in the first place: Is he a winner ? Will his battling underdog 'making it difficult for them' approach mean he will be overawed by the expectations of the club? .
So they belatedly conclude that Moyes was no good for those reasons and then appoint the opposite ,; a guy with huge wins on his CV and who is known to walk into the biggest clubs in Europe like he owns the place.
As Ffaith says above though , the strongest parts of his CV were in the 1990s and managers almost always become more negative in their later career.
