Apologies for asking a question that has probably been asked a million times before, but what are Betfair rules on bets where you have either bet or laid a club who suffer a points deduction because of an insolvency event?

For relegation markets, if a listed team is disqualified, thrown out or otherwise removed from the league after the relevant season has started, they will be deemed to be relegated and settled as a winner in this market. However, if the number of teams relegated is less than or exceeds the number of winners set out in this market, the market will be void in entirety. |

Might be better to use an example - say I lay Leeds to win the league. They sit atop the league but go into administration and are handed a 20 point deduction - does my "Lay" bet still stand?

depends if/when the deduction takes place; if it is before the season ends then bet will stand.
Similar happened last season in the relegation market in Spain; Eibar were 3rd from bottom at the end of the season and were relegated (so this 'official result' was what all books, including Betfair settled on). A few weeks later, Elche (who had finished 13th) were awarded a points deduction and relegated in place of Eibar. |

Looking at the League Two table there appears to be 2 teams in trouble.
Northampton Town, 28 points from 16 games and lying in joint 3rd top in the league - they are 19 points clear of the bottom 2 but are as low as 6/1 to be relegated, with Hills - Ladbrokes are 14/1 best. Portsmouth and Accrington - both with the same number of points are 1000/1 and 150/1 respectively to be relegated. And Notts County, 22 points from 16 games and lying in 14th in the league - they are 13 points clear of the bottom 2 but as low as 6/1 to be relegated with Ladbrokes (Club Sponsors) - forgetting Sp Odds and B Win, they are a general 10/1 poke to go down. Luton and Exeter - both with the same number of points are 150/1 and 33/1 respectively to be relegated. Northampton would have to take a massive points hit to be involved in a relegation fight, but the relegation price tells me that something is not right. Similarly at Notts County where a points deduction would see them in bother. INTERESTING |

Looks like Northampton are ok now but...
What about Notts County 5/1 and 10/1 in places to be relegated - surely something going on there?? |

Ladbrokes (sponsors at Notts County) shortened them up from 20/1 to 5/2 to be relegated.
