By:
TELL HIM TO TRUST ME ON THIS ONE
By:
TELL HIM HE WOULDNT BELIEVE HOW MANY TIMES IVE BEEN LET DOWN BY PEOPLE AND ORGANISATIONS,IVE HAD TO LET GO AND FORGIVE OR ELSE YOU DESTROY YOURSELF ,TELL HIM TO FORGIVE THEM
By:
THERES NOTHING WORSE THAN BEING LET DOWN BY SOMEONE YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD TRUST,AND ALSO TELL HIM HE WOULD HAVE EVEN BEEN A GREATER PLAYER IF HE COULD HAVE LEARNED HOW TO HEAD A BALL BETTER

Simply the greatest ever British footballer.
By:
He was OK, but he was no William Ralph Dean.

Simply the greatest ever British footballer. i know fa about football but that's what my dad says too & he's scottish. reckons he would have scored for any team anywhere anytime. |
By:
my grandad used to say greaves was the greatest..and he watched them all too
By:
it's a funny old game
By:
Saw him when he came to Highbury playing for Chelsea. Watching from the clock end, I think he was 17 he waltzed through 4 of our defenders around the penalty area and tapped in for a brilliant goal.

Never Forgive or Forget

By:
I think its all Donny osmonds fault do wah
greaves one of the greatest goal scorers I've witnessed play |
By:
he liked a drink
By:
I SAW HIM PLAY AT OLD TRAFFORD AND WHITE HEART LANE ,WHEN HE GOT THE BALL IN THE PENALTY AREA HE SCARED ME TO DEATH AS A UTD SUPPORTER,HE SCORED GOALS AND MADE IT LOOK EASY
By:
YOU SHOULD HAVE SET UP A BAR IN THE CORNER WITH A BOTTLE OF WHISKY AND A FEW GLASSES
HE WOULD STAY OUT THE BOX |

Always been my hero, read the article and its obviously a great shame especially as this was 45 years ago so surely nobody at the club today is to blame? An even greater shame that as he's just sold his medal he could surely have become a Spurs ambassador or whatever and earned himself a decent wedge like other club legends do.
By:
Greaves was a genius. Shame he fell out with his club. Do Wah is right though, must try to put the past behind him.
By:
Another good thread Doo Wah, good contributions from others too, the guy was sheer class and his debut goal for west ham was clinical too.
As usual, the hater`s that make no contribution to either football or forums (bbc2 and duncey osmond)play the usual part of spoiler`s. |

He is the reason i am as Spurs fan...all those years ago
By:
would go 3 months without a touch in todays game ,spent 90% of his time in the 6 yd box an area of the pitch rarely used in the modern game, champions of england with a 100 millin quid strikeforce has again just the left the pitch with one attempt on goal, the epl has developed the art of doing everything but what the game is about goals and goalmouth action
By:
on the subject of greaves only a drunken pisshead could belive the game owes him a living, seems to be as balanced out of the games as he was in it ,chips on both shoulders,no doubt in 30 years we,ll be reading about how everyone let gazza down
By:
YOU WANT TO GROW UP AND TAKE YOUR CHIPS OFF YOUR SHOULDER
By:
HES VERY SENSATIVE LIKE ME ,HE DOESNT LIKE PEOPLE LETTING HIM DOWN ,I KNOW IT HAPPENS BUT HE CANT COPE WITH IT LIKE OTHERS DO ,WE ARE VERY SENSATIVE LIKE THAT
By:
and of course been a self confirmed alcoholic he,ll have never let anyone down,
![]() |
By:
YOU DONT KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO SIT IN YOUR CAR AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS ,AND SUDDENLY SOMEONE COMES INTO YOUR MIND WHOS LET YOU DOWN IN LIFE AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF YOU ,AND YOU WANT TO KILL THEM ,WHEN IT HAPPENED 50 YEARS AGO ,ITS NOT NICE IT DESTROYS YOY
By:

By:

By:
Do wah Diddy - you need to get some sensadyne - doesn't do much for someone's self indulgence but good for your teeth

By:
Ok GEORGY BOY POINT TAKEN AND I AGREE WITH YOUR POINT ABOUT GREAVSIE
By:
Great player Do Wah and he was badly let down by both Tottenham and England.
By:
yep if ramsey hadnt left him out england might have won the world cup,
eh hang on i might have to rethink that one, ![]() |
By:
You're obviously looking for an argument.
JG was entitled to feel let down by Ramsay, your point is mute in that respect. |
By:
Most of his points would be better mute.
By:
st n greavsie were an item weren't they ?

I REMEMBER SEEING IAN ST JOHN PLAYING FOR LIVERPOOL ALONGSIDE JIMMY MELIA WHEN THEY CAME UP FROM THE SECOND DIV TO THE FIRST,IT WAS AT ANFIELD AGAINST MAN UTD ,ST JOHN WAS ANOTHER VERY GOOD PLAYER
By:
IF YOU EVER SEE HIM TELL HIM DO WAH DIDDY SAID HE WAS A GOOD FOOTBALLER ,HE WILL LIKE THAT
By:
Can't blame him for wanting to disassociate himself with Tottenham, Sol Campbell did his best to too.
By:
JIMMY MELIA ALSO PLAYED FOR WOLVES ,AND I SAW HIM PLAY AT BURDEN PARK WHEN WOLVES PLAYED THEM AND THEY WON AND SENT BOLTON INTO THE SECOND DIV,MY DAD WAS A BOLTON SUPPORTER AND HE USED TO TAKE ME THERE BUT I CHANGED TO MAN UTD IN THE 60S ,MY BROTHER STILL SUPPORTS THEM AND STILL GOES NOW AND AGAIN,PS JIMMY MELIA WAS A GOOD SCHEMER AND PLAYER AS WELL ,
