Hi. I am looking to buy a new laptop, nothing too pricey or extravagant, just something that allows me to browse the internet, and most importantly, allows me to trade in play football matches using bet angel basic and possibly bet angel professional. I don't even know where to begin looking!!! A laptop that allows me to use Microsoft word & excel would also be helpful.
Anybody have any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

Although I use Geeks and not BA I had the same problem, aging laptop which doesn't quite cut it any more. I bought a Lenovo running Win8 and it's slower than the system I bought in 2011 that has vastly inferior specs.

So one of the first big points is don't touch anything with Win8 on it.

yep.  fcuk windows 8.

the processor isnt a big deal these days, theyre all fast, aim for 8gb of ram and a decent SSD for a trading platform to run flawlessly, £250-£300 i reckon

Thanks for the advise/replies. The Windows 8 program affecting the speed is interesting, so i'd b better off with a laptop that has windows 7 or XP does that mean??
Somebody else advised me on the importance of SSD, sounds like that is vital if i want the laptop to run at a decent speed.
£250-£300 is the exact budget i was looking at spending.

Can anybody recommend any specific laptops for me to look at and any manufactures i should look into buying or avoiding for that matter??? Thanks again

Windows 8 isn't popular, but it's not in any way slower than windows 7. Don't have any specific laptop recommendation, but all new latops are "powerful" enough for web surfing and office. Maybe reviews at Amazon could be useful to you?

You want 4 GB RAM btw. Some budget laptops may still have only 2.

This is correct. Not sure what is so difficult to understand about that!!! I currently trade using my PC but would find it more convienant using a laptop

thanks mr anderson. I have been looking at laptops with 8GB but if 4GB is sufficient, then even better price-wise

4gb DDR3 RAM is enough. RAM is more important than a SSD. SSD will mean your laptop boots up quicker - that is the only real difference you will see if you are trading. They are more useful for people on the go who are turning their laptop on and off all day on the move. Not for people who will sit at a desk and trade.

Once the laptop is booted up it is the RAM that will be running all the programs you need. SSDs are expensive. Go with a normal HDD and 4GB RAM and a newish processor. You can always add more RAM and change the HDD for SSD when the price comes down but a new laptop my be better value by that time.
