Well, Schalke winning after 90 minutes wasn't a strange result. After all, Augsburg have only won away once this season (lost 5) and despite the fact that Schalke aren't in great form, they are always difficult to beat at home. The only reason I layed them in the HT/FT market is because I had watched the first 20 minutes and they looked toothless up front. Augsburg weren't much better, but at least their build-up play held more promise. I really thought I was looking at a match that would end 0 - 0 after 45 minutes, especially because I didn't think either team would be very upset with that. It was only after some idi*t Augsburg midfielder foolishly lost the ball going forward that Schalke got to their -- one and only, really -- chance. They really should easily have dealt with the situation, but unfortunately for me it was too much to expect three Augsburg defenders to contain two Schalke attackers. I was an idi*t for getting involved in the HT/FT in the first place (laying CS 0 - 1 at not much higher odds was a much better bet), simple as that. I'll stick to betting against goals for a while. It's not what I enjoy doing, because I want to see a contest between two teams that is end-to-end and with plenty of beautiful goals, but that's not what professional football is about so I'll just take advantage of it where I can. (Still a long way to get "back in the black," though... *sigh*) |
