As some of you may have seen, I posted a bet suggestion a week or so ago. It was a £1000 5-Fold at odds of 12/1.
I decided against it as the response I received on here was extremely negative and put more doubt into my mind than I already had before and essentially made up my mind!

I have now changed that bet now and come up with a four fold that looks like it has an excellent chance.

Would be great to hear some of your opinions on it and whether you all think I should put it on or not!

If I do decide to place it, then I will post the bet slip as soon as I do it!

4-Fold
11/10
SkyBet

1: BAYERN MUNICH TO WIN THE GERMAN BUNDESLIGA @ 1/7.

2: ARSENAL TO FINISH IN THE TOP 4 OF THE ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE @ 1/2.

3: DERBY COUNTY TO FINISH IN THE TOP HALF OF THE ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP @ 1/9.

4: BRISTOL CITY TO FINISH IN THE TOP HALF OF THE ENGLISH LEAGUE ONE @ 1/10.

£2000 returns £4200ish.

They hardly went full on the other day in the Super Cup game the other day but Dortmund will not finish above them in the league especially with the expected departures of Mats Hummels and maybe Marco Reus to come. The last 2 years they have finished 20 or more points behind Bayern!

Will have to contact them shortly to see if they will allow me to do it!

As the odds suggest, bet 2 has the higher likliehood of failure.

What with Arsenal only 4th last season, and United likely to be much improved this season, and with no European distractions....you never know.

You should finish top 4 though, Scousers 5th Wink
Report Lemmiwinks August 14, 2014 9:54 PM BST
Not bad odds on Arsenal to finish top four. Chelsea and Man City are pretty much guaranteed to finish top 4 again.

Man United have a terrible defence and will concede goals with Robin Van Persie likely to pick up injuries throughout the season as he ages.

Arsenal look strong this year and Sanchez will prove to be a fantastic signing, you get the feeling he will be replicating his form from Chile at Arsenal and will bring the best out of all the players around him.

Also rumoured to be signing that Greek defender who is a beast.

:D His body is made of glass!!!!

From memory I can only think of 1/2 seasons where has gone through without an injury lasting more than 5/6 weeks. Given that he's their lynch pin player, that doesn't bode well for them.

I don't think Man United have bought well. Maybe Fellaini will prove that he's worth the money this season, but however good a prospect Ander Herrera is, he's not going to change that midfield by himself. Mata may be utilized better by Van Gaal but if he plans on playing Antonio and Ashley Young as wing backs with the central defenders they have available to them then Premiership league teams will be creating chances not to mention the fear factor of playing Man United has undoubtedly gone now.

Spurs and Everton won't have the strength in depth to challenge but you can see Everton pushing close to top 4. Liverpool losing Suarez is a huge blow no matter how much they are pretending it isn't. He bought the best out of Sturridge and other team players, they have bought well for sure and have more depth but too many players need to settle in the Premiership. The Serbian striker is a good signing but you can't gaurantee that he'll hit the ground running. Arsenal have the luxury of bedding in their new signings as they still have the backbone of the team who served them so well last season and now with Sanchez that takes so much pressure of Ozil who we may see the absolute best of now.
Report Gooner4Life August 14, 2014 10:30 PM BST
You are completely spot on with absolutely everything you have just said! I don't understand why there is so much hype over Van Gaal at all. He subbed a keeper for another keeper before a penalty shootout at the world cup. That is hardly rocket science and is the common thing to do if you have a better shot stopper on the bench. He is no Sir Alex Ferguson, as much as I hate him he was a great manager and as soon as he left the only way was down for future managers and the club as a whole! They don't really have any strength in depth either when you really look at it deeply. Just pretty average. I'm not saying Arsenal are world beaters but they look and seem to be a lot stronger than Man United and definitely Liverpool who without Suarez have lost nearly half their goals so they will have to find where them goals will come from now. They concede so often that if they don't score as many goals as they did last season then they will definitely struggle. Spurs and Everton have their moments and are excellent on their day but they have no staying power and either come back to Arsenal in the end or just get completely blown away! Arsene Wenger will be looking at challenging for the title not just a top 4 finish. That is a minimum expectation! Alexis Sanchez will definitely provide an X factor and with him and Walcott bombing down the wings or penetrating through the middle and feeding the prolific Olivier Giroud we are set up very well. not forgetting the creativity of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla. Aaron Ramsey is also looking even better than last season! I'm happy with the David Ospina signing... he is a very solid signing and I'm really hoping he becomes our Number 1 before long as I don't really trust Szczesny much! Per and Kos are a rock solid centre back partnership and Gibbs and Monreal are pretty good left backs who both have different qualities that can be utilized against different opposition! Debuchy seems to fit in well and Chambers is an exciting young prospect. I want us to sign another decent center back though and also a defensive midfielder or a creative striker would be great but I'm happy with what we have now!

The way I see the top 4, there are 7 contenders.

Tottenham & Everton show promise occasionally and go on a few good runs but don't have the depth in their squads and the staying power to break into the top four!

Manchester United are desperately struggling and are in desperate need of signing 3 or 4 players, they basically need a new spine of the team which will cost £100,000,000+ which they will not go out and do. They must surely improve on last season but if Van Gaal is saying he needs three months before you see any difference then I think that tells you how bad things are there at the moment!

Liverpool in my opinion are just not the same without Luis Suarez and although they have spent a lot of money, they have hardly drastically improved their team, I would even go as far as to say it has got weaker since last season. For me they will lose their fight and just start struggling at certain points during the season especially with all these players they have bought having hardly any experience in European Football.

Chelsea and Manchester City on paper have the strongest squads in the league by some distance and they always grind results out and it is hard to not see either of them in the top four but strangers things have happened.

Arsenal have the strongest squad that we have had for many years on paper and the fighting spirit finally looks there. Them few world class players Wenger has bought in have really installed a winning mentality in this team which it was lacking before. If he can nail one or two more signings before the transfer window shuts then we really can have a decent title push this season.

For me Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal look nailed on for the top four. The other place is a fight between Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton.

It does tie your money up but for me that isn't really a bad thing at the moment as I'm a bit busy to be betting in depth day in day out like I was before!

I couldn't stake significant money on just dodging 0-0's either. That's just pot luck really!

Bristol city will finish in the top 6 (NAP). We have made some excellent signings, and our bench is very strong as well up to previous seasons. It will take an absolute disaster for us not be in the top half. There just are not that many good sides/squads in this league imo and to find 12 to finish above will take some doing. Preston, Orient, Sheff united will be up there and Posh plus MK dons be around the top 6 - other than that the rest are like for like really.

I completely understand the lower leagues in English Football can be etremely unpredictable from week to week but to be fair that does show in the prices. Over the course of a season though, it would be madness if Bristol City did not at least get a top half finish at the very very least. They even managed it last year and they were absolutely dreadful let alone how strong they are looking this term.

Arsenal were disappointing in The Champions League away at Besiktas but showed a lot of fight and kept a clean sheet which we would not have done in previous years. Hopefully Ozil and Mertesacker coming back into the team livens us up and we finally show some decent form at Goodison this weekend!

Bristol City earned a hard fought point at home to Leyton Orient and they should have won as apparently they had a perfectly good goal disallowed after a great defensive performance kept Orient out. That's now 7 out of 9 points for them so looking good on that front.

Derby suffered a shock defeat at The Valley to Charlton but to be fair Derby did absolutely dominate this game with 65% possession and territorial dominance. They looked a far superior side but surprisingly could not get the job done and lost 3-2. They should hopefully start to pick up. Hopefully they can get a win at home to Fulham this weekend!

Bayern Munich kick off The Bundesliga season this coming weekend at home to Wolfsburg so hopefully they start with a bang!

The bet has moved from 11/10 to about 5/6 now so so far so good.

Now down to just under 1/2. Even though Arsenal have been frustrating so far we sit in 4th ahead of our main rivals for the top four Manchester United and Liverpool and we are unbeaten in our first six league games. I know we look very fragile at certain points but nowhere near as fragile as the others. About 3/10 from 1/2 now for a top four finish so still on the right path. I do think we will get ruined next week though!
