Just got off the phone to my sources close to the England camp and I can confirm that Roy will be going with Hart, Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines, Lallana, Henderson, Gerrard, Stirling, Rooney, Sturridge, have also been reliably informed Italy’s starting line up will be  Buffon; Abate, Bonucci, Paletta, Chiellini, De Rossi, Pirlo, Marchiso; Candreva; Verratti, Balotelli..

Might actually be a good decision to bring our best player Wilshere on in the second half, with his creativity in the  baking  sun the tiring Italians wont be able to deal with him, until then our creativity is only coming from the wingers, only hope is Sterling times his runs well and doesn't leave Johnson exposed.

Referee: Kuipers (Dutch)
In his last 8 International matches he’s given  2 reds and on average 3.8 yellow cards a game, last 8 matches in all comps he’s given 1 red and averaged 5 yellow a match (included the 12 yellows in the champs league final/extra time)

I would imagine with a Dutch referee used to the Eredivise would allow for free flowing football and wont acquiesce to the constant diving expected from the eye talians

England better than many thought but Rooney although making the goal was crap as usual and as thought by virtually everyone the defence let them down with dire marking on both goals, experience won the day but England dominated the 2nd half  and will improve, Sterling's going to be some player he went past the Italians on occasions like they were tree's and lets hope Sturridge is okay.

Italy should beat Costa Rica
If England draw with Uruguay

It would be

Italy - 6
Cost Rica - 3
England - 1
Uruguay - 1

Italy would play a second string knowing they've topped the group and Urugauy would beat them, England would have to beat Costa Rica by about 3-0

Or if we beat Uruaguay and Italy beat Costa Rica, it'll be

Italy - 6
England - 3
Costa Rica - 3
Uruguay - 0

A draw v Costa rica would do

If we lose v Uruguay it's all over, Uruguay would be a second string italy

Report 247lol June 15, 2014 1:13 AM BST
Gerrard offers very little he's got no pace and although makes the occasional good pass or shot provides no cover for the defence so leaving a big hole in midfield, I would drop him and play all the young players in midfield next game, you could see how the pace of the younger players bothered the Italians tonight.
That bit of extra pace in midfield will make a huge difference so why not play them all now they have nothing to lose the experience will be good for them.
Report HonkyJoe June 15, 2014 1:13 AM BST
Italy dropped back because that's they nearly always do when they go a goal up. It's the Italian mentality to win games by a single goal. God knows why.  And in WCs where the conditions can be sapping, it tends to come back and bite them.

You either play him through the middle, or you don't play him at all. Fact is, though, he should have scored and didn't, and that's nothing to do with him being out of position.  He's often not bad for us in qualifiers, but he's dreadful in the main tournaments.  (And also not great for MU at the business end - he was shocking against Bayern Munich, for instance.)

I'm not quite sure what he offered for us, I can't remember him making any great tackles, blocks or reading the play.

He never showed for the ball like Barkley did and many occasions you'd see him running off into a crowd of Italian players not taking responsibility.
