Im pretty sure if there was any pro Liverpool FC agenda it would not have taken 25 years for the league to be given back to us, we would have won another 10 in that time if that was the case. So im afraid the conspiracy theories are stopped with that point alone.

I've seen the penalty briefly a couple of times and seemed that Altidore slipped to me.

Also looked like Ramires could have had one in the first half which I've been told was the trigger for him slapping Larsson.

Chelsea fans will say the officials had a poor game whilst Liverpool fans will think they did well. That's football supporters for you.

A certain manager made the point earlier this season about where a referee came from. It seems the appointments guys surpassed themselves this time.

hippie I don't know what it is but I notice you popping up on various threads being a bit of a div.

I said in an earlier post that Chelsea didn't do enough but to ask why someone who isn't able to officiate Liverpool games is allowed to officiate in a game that was indirectly vital to them is a pretty valid question I think.

That's regardless of any views I have on decisions made today
Report hippie April 19, 2014 10:06 PM BST
what threads have I popped up on being a bit of a div?

You're clearly suggesting the referee is bias. That's stinks of being a bad loser but if you can provide proof go ahead.
Report Marcce April 19, 2014 10:18 PM BST
Just to clarify for you Mike Dean doesn't ref games involving Liverpool.

One of today's linesmen doesn't officiate in games involving Liverpool.

Yet they pop up in a game that's vitally important to Liverpool's chances of winning the title. Personally I felt there were a couple of decisions that were questionable. Others believe the decisions were a disgrace and have automatically linked them to the official's locations.

Now how the hell are the FA putting officials in situations like that? Incidentally Lee Mason hasn't reffed a Liverpool game since Rodgers' comments in December so it appears they can be sensitive to some club's issues with officials.
Report bump1111 April 19, 2014 10:26 PM BST
He's an utter embarrassment, even more so after all the favours theyve had this season, the last minute pen v West Brom being the worst and lets not forget they should have been down to 10 men v Liverpool after about 2 minutes with that horrific tackle from Eto'o on Henderson (And Suarez should have had a penalty). He's a classless moron and has been for a decade now, the sooner Abramovich is sick of his dismal football and sends him packing the better. Dunno where he'll go though as he's absolutely loathed in Spain and Italy, the media saw straight through him whereas for some reason ours hails him as a "character" and "great for the game".

There's no doubt what you've implied there and it's libelous.

Report Biscuit1979 April 19, 2014 11:18 PM BST
To be fair Marcce does make a good point. If the officials have got any connections with Liverpool and aren't allowed to do Liverpool games, then it's pretty stupid of the premier league to let them officiate at a game involving their main title rival.

Regardless of whether they were biased or whether they had the most perfect game ever, it's stupid to put them in that position in the first place.

Having said that though, i don't think there was any hint of them being biased and they actually did Chelsea a favour by not sending Ramires off.
Report hippie April 19, 2014 11:24 PM BST
What you're suggesting is that there should be a cut-off after which Mike Dean and Jake Collin can't officiate games involving teams at the top of the table if Liverpool are in a challenging position.

That opens a whole can of ethical worms.
Report ours4keeps April 19, 2014 11:27 PM BST

"The fact he is from the Wirral might lead to comment and debate which could place him under undue additional pressure. The decision has been taken with the best interests of Mike Dean and the competition in mind."

how many penalties are given when refs aren't 100% sure.
how many dubious penalties have been given this season?
yet when chelsea get the first penalty given against them of the season, that looked a penalty in real time, you're calling it sinister.
laughable.

plus the point i made about the carroll goal is that the linesman that gave THIS penalty gave the carroll goal.  i was under the impression that you thought he was bias.  because mike dean gave it after the assistant flagged.

Report ReaseHeath April 20, 2014 12:06 AM BST
I doubt it will be anything other than a piecemeal, tribal debate - it seldom is.

5 pens scored plus 1 pen missed, 13 EPL goals today.

I wonder what the ratio of pens; goals now is vs start of the EPL? Significantly higher, I suspect.

The ref base location/club affiliation issue will always raise its ugly head occasionally - let's have swap for a season, we can have the Bundesliga refs and they can have ours...

Unlikely there will be any original thought, just the same old arguments recycled ad nauseum.
Report egner April 20, 2014 12:06 AM BST
