It's a clear foul, but the ref wouldn't have given it without the dive so sadly it's hard to blame players for going over in such instances.

He is not "conning" anyone if it is a foul. The correct decision is penalty. He is giving the ref the opportunity to make correct decision by diving.

Spot on mover. Unfortunately all teams do this now, so we cant complain, it's just the way football has become.

Im afraid if you say its ok for players to dive to give the "opportunity to the ref to make correct decision" then you end up with what we have..ie players diving to gain an advantage.

I don't think it was a foul FredRescue. The challenge didn't impede him or bring him down, he could have gone on to shoot and score. The dive got the penalty.

It is the referees fault for not giving the correct decisions. Players dont need to go to ground for it to be a foul, most refs seem to think so.
