I've seen two already this weekend, both of which will remain nameless.

agreed. a worrying new trend in the game.
Report ripbong March 23, 2014 11:30 PM GMT
Was Sturridge one of them? I thought I saw him do it

Some assists much better than the finish.  Hate to see someone tap in from a yard after their teammate creates and then the scorer celebrates like they're a hero.
Report stickyvicky March 23, 2014 11:39 PM GMT
^^^still not a goal, why celebrate on your own
Report themover March 23, 2014 11:46 PM GMT
if they've put themselves in their fantasy team I dont see a problem with this, 3 points is 3 points afterall
Report Checkmate March 23, 2014 11:50 PM GMT
What's even worse is when a winger beats three men. avoids career-threatening tackles, makes it to the  bye line, chips in a perfect cross to striker in front of open goal, striker taps in, AND THEN THE STRIKER RUNS TO THE FANS TOTALLY IGNORING THE WINGER AND CELEBRATES LIKE HE HAD SCORED GOAL OF THE SEASON.
Report patrick starr March 23, 2014 11:52 PM GMT
sturridge deffo, does it all the time, him and john terry could be roomies...oh hang on a minute..

Wtf you on about? If you celebrate an assist surely it shows it's not all about yourself?

Yeah that annoys me.

Checkmate; Both have done their job then. But agreed some strikers acknowledge their assists from team mates others don't.
Report Mike-lfc March 24, 2014 12:06 AM GMT
i don't know who the two players your on about are but what is wrong with celebrating an assist? You've just helped your team score a goal....
Report stickyvicky March 24, 2014 12:12 AM GMT
You don't see it at Barca, for example. Celebrating an assist is a bit egotistical and ott imo.
Report The Bhoys March 24, 2014 12:15 AM GMT
Yea but at barca they score goals for fun, not the case at mid table fodder like southampton r manure r something, should celebrate if they want
Report stickyvicky March 24, 2014 12:21 AM GMT
^^Not rising to that bait, BhoysGrin
Report Mike-lfc March 24, 2014 1:32 AM GMT
I dont understand what you mean by celebrate? All i see if the player run up too the goalscorer and celebrate with them. Don't think ive ever seen a player actually run and slide ect when they have assisted a goal.
Report kenilworth March 24, 2014 8:28 AM GMT
Why is it the players run to congratulate the player
who taps in from 2 yards when all the work is done by
others who are mainly ignored?
Report mexicano March 24, 2014 8:45 AM GMT
who was the ref who "celebrated" a good advantage he played that led to a goal?

a few years ago now.
Report 1st time poster March 24, 2014 5:16 PM GMT
alright was it the same player celebrating 2 assists or 2 players,

i was thinking kyle naughton, LaughLaughLaugh
Report 1st time poster March 24, 2014 5:17 PM GMT
naughton and klyne, Wink
Report 1st time poster March 24, 2014 5:20 PM GMT
its another load of rollocks from the moderngame anyway,
a midfield player can play a shocking leg breaking pass which a striker through speed and bravery can turn into a goal and the midfielders gets an assist
or a deadball player can aim a cross to his centre forward miss him by 30 yds and the full back nods in and he still gets an assist
Report The Bhoys March 24, 2014 5:29 PM GMT
