By:
Yea but your original post is a tad ambiguous
By:
Bale 1
Gerrard 2 |
By:
Not really vid, doubt many would deem Suarez British!
By:
Gareth Bale as said above.
Other picks: are they allowed internet access in the asylum? |
By:
Bale at the moment but when at the top of his game Rooney
By:
as giggs is still playing its probably him
not that hes currently the best, but best of current bunch |

Donny, I don't think I could be much clearer; who is currently the greatest (i.e. best) British (i.e. born within Great Brtain) player?
By:
Bale 3
Gerrard 2 Giggs 1 |
By:
Giggs and Bale are the only world class homegrown players
that have graced the Premier Lge since it started (unless Roy Keane gets a pass for being Irish) |
By:
prob would be ramsey only for injury
By:
Yea fair point glossy - I probably jumped in with both feet so apologies but IT IS Gerrard ... end of thread
By:
....so therefore Bale in answer to your Qu. seeing as Giggs is approaching retirement
By:
until he packs in they have a long way to go to match his trophy cabinet,
so hes the greatest would he get in worlds top 50 this season, no way, so hes not the greatest |

Are people genuinely saying that at the moment in time, Gerrard is a better player than Bale?

By:
Vinnie jones by a million miles

By:
glossy you sound as though you'd already made up your mind so why ask?
By:
Of course I've made up my mind - I'm not seeking other opinions to help me decide. Just genuinely interested in whether a fairly large sample of football followers feel the same, or have differing views
By:
Giggs is laughably over-rated, maybe in the top twenty.
By:
I am happy with the Gerrard fan club saying he is the greatest. My bet is on Italy in the World Cup.
Gerrard is massively over-rated imo. Please pick him, and put him in the team. |
By:
Gareth Bale
By:
I genuinely thought (even in this madhouse) that the thread would go 20-30 serious posts before someone said someone other than Bale. Yet we've had Gerrard, Rooney and Giggs offered; even at this early stage.
By:
how can bale be greater than giggs ?
he is a better player because giggs is past his prime he is currently the best british footballer by ratings |

Bale is of course a good player but would you really describe him as the best player of his current comtemporaries? Based on what? ... He had 5-6 good months last season for Spurs and almost single-handedly carried them into the CL. He's now playing in one of the world's top teams and has scored and assisted a few goals but probably wouldn't be a familiar name to most people outside Spain or the UK.
Really wouldn't have him in a list of the Top 25 players in the world at this moment but when he's been an inspirational captain for his club and country and played consistently at the top level for a few years then maybe he wold be worth consideration. |

By:
Seems to be all the left sided players Giggs , Bale and even Joe Cole
By:
Some people seem to be struggling with the question. It is: who is the greatest current British footballer NOT who is the greatest British footballer playing currently?
Hope this helps. If you managed a team tonight and had a choice of any British player; whom would you pick? Jeez |
