They exposed Barcelona's naivety and BM just couldn't break them down, even though BM were at home. I think it's a fantastic achievement to beat Bayern Munich in the CL final in Bayern's home ground.

Let me get this straight Biscuit, you think Chelsea were lucky against Barcelona? Chelsea beat them 1-0 in the first leg fair and square. And drew with them 2-2 at the Nou Camp with only 10 men. They thoroughly deserved to go through!

Barcelona couldn't even beat Chelsea at home agaisnt 10 men! Shocked

Bayern Munich couldn't beat Chelsea in their home ground.

Trust me Chelsea really deserved to win the CL. They did it the hard way. I doubt if any team has ever done it harder. A feat that will probably never be bettered imvho

Madrid who they knocked out. Arsenal when the tie was over.

When Madrid beat them it was at the Bernabeu nd Bayern were forced all the way to the lottery shootout, so much for winning when it matters, could have gone either way, Bayern never bet Arsenal it was 3-3 on agg so not sure how the tie was overLaugh

Point is, people say Barcelona used to dominate Europe but they never did either, you can't dominate Europe id you've never even defended the trophy before. But if they manage it this year under two different managers then they will be the first ever side to dominate the CL.

So you don't think a team playing at home against 10 men with a 2-0 lead have a big enough advantage? They were somehow unlucky to lose. A team that achieved 1 point out of a possible 6 were unlucky Shocked

Tie was over because Arsenal needed to score 3 which was never under serious threat. They scored early but didn't threaten a great deal and i think they only scored the 2nd with a couple of minutes left.
If Bayern had needed a win or the tie was still in the balance, i think you'd have seen a different game. They were very complacent.

high lander - why are we going over the same points again and again? I'm not going to change my opinion that over the course of the 2 legs v Barca and the final v Bayern i think chelsea were fortunate to win the trophy. Yes they worked hard and it was an amazing achievement to win it, but i think they were ridiculously lucky. History books won't say they were lucky though, it'll only list 'Chelsea 2012 winners' so fair play to them.

Bayern to short for me here! Dortmund opened at 3.3 away to arsenal in the group stage before being punted into 2.8. Theres to much of a gap for my liking and arsenal are an established champions league side and at home are strong. Barca were 2.5 at city yesterday and it  wouldn't suprise me if the game tonight pans out similar with a bayern win but an absolute no no to win at that price!

I make bayern roughly on par with barca and I wouldn't have barca 1.76 for the win at the Emirates!

Yeah there's been many "lucky teams" down the years. Like Bayern Munich (3 European Cups in a row in the mid 70's), or the many Italian sides who played Catenaccio to win World Cups and European Cups. They were lucky all the time Laugh

Comparing a side who won 3 straight European cups to a side who won it once then went out in the groups the next year is a great comparison and really backs up your point Laugh

It's interesting that you can remember that Bayern side or the various top italian sides. I'd guess you remember them because they were good sides and anything but lucky. But in 30-40 years time, how many football (non-Chelsea) fans will remember the 'great' Chelsea winners from 2012?

Watch both full 90 minutes of last seasons matches with Arsenal and you can see the same intensity wasnt there for the 2nd leg.

Arsenal 4/1 is tempting as it is the best price you will get for them to win a home match this season but be careful. The last time i bet on Arsenal was on my birthday a couple of years ago, Barce vs Arsenal at nou camp. Arsenal were 10/1 and i thought it was a gift especially when Bendter gave us the lead but Barce ended up running riot

Like I said already Barca won 1 point out of a possible 6 - that kind of destroys your lucky theory don't you think?

Back then Bayern and those Italian sides defended deep, suckered the opposition into a false sense of superiority and hit them on the break in exactly the same way Chelsea did. I couldn't see any difference. Same thing happened back then. Saint Eteinne "outplayed Bayern...were unlucky etc" didn't win. Leeds United "outplayed ...were unlucky etc"... didn't win. Barca "outplayed Chelsea...were unlucky etc etc" didn't win. Do you see a pattern here Mischief

Luck has nothing to do with it.

England should adopt that style of play in the summer, it's the only chance your lot have of winning the World Cup. Or of qualifying for the 2nd phase even.

2-0 and not in danger

Correct. 2-0 when the second goal comes in the last couple of minutes is not in danger. I don't think Arsenal even had a shot after it went 2-0. It's not as if they were 2 up at the break then went all out attack in the second half and had a number of chances to get the 3rd goal they needed. They nicked a late goal and all it did was add some respectability to a tie that was over at the Emirates.

Arsenal are missing wallo ....Wallo adds some pace to arsenal attack and Giroud takes 5 chances to convert 1...wallo is the messi of current arsenal team....looks bit difficult for arsenal....

Yes you did that one earlier highlander and it was just as pathetic then. Last year you accused me of being a Barcelona fan. On sunday i thought Liverpool should've had a second penalty, must mean i'm a liverpool fan. I thought Chelsea were lucky to win the CL, must mean i hate them. Or does it, because i thought their performance at City in the league was brilliant, so it must mean i'm a Chelsea fan.

You're a strange one.

Bayern have won 20 of their last 21 games. 16 points clear in the Bundesliga. Thomas Rosicky would be a plus if he starts. Rather back Arsenal player score anytime, 5 goals or unquoted than back Arsenal at 4-1. It is a massive task to contain Bayern.

Well I've done me tits this week    But the plan was always to clean up on the gunners 5.1 incredible value.
Would have knocked them out last year but for an incorrect offside given against theo in Munich but still beat them away.
They must have thought oh no when they see the draw .
As stated best player rubbery is out pep is gradually turning them into bores. They are certainly not as attacking as they were and will no doubt play for 0/0
250 arsenal @5.1
50 ht ft @ 10
Will put 25 arsenal -1 and -2 later
Then happy days well up. On the week.

It will be a similar pattern as Man City v Barcelona game. Bayern will take there chances to win the game it is always the same with the most successful clubs.

The Bundesliga is not a strong league, if Bayern were in the Premier League or La Liga they wouldn't be top.

It's very rare for a European side to beat Arsenal at the Emirates.

Historically yes, recently no. Arsenal have lost 3 of their last 7 home euro ties including all of their last 3 v German opposition.

I expect a pretty cagey affair early on and if Arsenal do not concede in the first 10 mins...the price on Bayern will be well over 2.2 very quickly.

they can batter us tonight for 85 mins as long as we dont surrender , one attack and one goal would do for me Crazy
