*Stockport has the Mersey right behind it
*Fulham has the Thames out the back of what used to be the old away end
*Forest has the Trent near it (down one side by memory, and presumably its not far from Meadow Lane either but I can't remember how close)
*Shrewsbury used to have the guy with the Coracle who fetched the ball out of the River Shrew (?) when they were at the Gay Meadow. I've been to the new Straight Meadow but don't remember it being near the River
What other grounds are well near rivers?

Isnt the River Mersey very close to Stockport's ground?
St Andrews (the ground not the golf course) is near the River Rea
Newport County's ground (Rodney Parade) is situated on the River Usk. Very close.
dw stadium next to the river douglas - but the river isnt as big as the nearby canal
Gay Meadow was practically in the River Severn never mind next to it.

Hartlepool is close to water. I remember the wind blowing in from a battered old stand in the 80's, and the last time we was there we was drinking in some pub next to water.

Hartlepool is miles away from water I'm afraid. Well, not miles, but there's three roads, a supermarket, and two car parks to cross before you get to the Marina.
theres a rather nice victorian lake in leazes park, just behind leazes end at newcastles st james park
Stockport County's ground is close to the Mersey. It was when I last played there

Brunton Park, Carlisle (I think). Unless I'm confused. Seem to remember it stinking when we played there a few years back.

I've been to Atletico Madrid's stadium and I didn't see a river anywhere. Its right in the middle of a load of houses. And everyone eats ham baguettes at half time.

The DW stadium in Wigan is about 20 yards from the River Douglas and about 120 yards from the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
Theres a big puddle of something behind the Jags away end at Firhill, dont know if its a lake, canal or river.
Ashton Gate is close to the river Avon.
Also water around the French national stadium in Paris.
