So that explains why a fully fit Heitinga is not playing over a half fit Alcaraz
No wonder Everton are happy for him to leave before his contract runs out in the summer.

Heitinga was rubbish last season.
He has hardly played this year, Distin and Jagielka have been in top form and John Stones has been the 3rd choice centre back ahead of Alcaraz.
Heitinga was 5th choice, and yet he is expected to start every game in the world cup for holland!
Shame he has no pace when it comes to defending.
In his defence, he is not fit.
He was not expected to be on the bench tonight, the local radio station says he is playing with pain killers to get through the game.
I dont know why martinez didnt drop one of them, put hibbert right back and john stones centre half.
Oh well
I actually dont think everton have played that badly 1st half.

choosing 2 half fit centre halfs and playing a fit centre half at right back and keeping a proven right back in hibbert on the bench
get alcaraz off and put stones back to CB and Hibbert at RB.
Hibbert can put in a good cross and is a natural RB.
