There are just so many top class Scottish players from the 70s and 80s to choose from. Every top team had its share of Scots:
Liverpool - Dalglish, Souness, Hansen, Nicol, Hutchison Arsenal - Charlie Nicholas Leeds - Bremner, Lorimer, Gray, McAllister Spurs - Gough, Archibald, Sullivan Ipswich - Wark, Gray Everton - Sharp, Ferguson, Ferguson B Chelsea - Nevin, Burley, Speedie, Durie, Spencer, Clarke Derby - Gemmill, Rioch Man Utd - Law, Jordan, McQueen, Buchan, Morgan, Strachan, McClair, Goram Nott Forest - Robertson, O´Hare, Burns West Ham - Ray Stewart Newcastle - Jim Craig these are just the ones I can remember... |

Er, er, er, SULLIVAN?
He was brilliant only if you had advance warning of the goals he was going to chuck in. One at Leeds was absolutely comical. |

another two of my boyhood heroes were scottish
tony green, sadly injury cut short his career, but he was lightyears ahead of his time another newcastle scottish great was jimmy smith, a huge talent and kicked out of the game before he was 30 only 10 scotland caps between them, a reflection on injury and also the vast amount of scottish talent around at the time |

Wark, Hansen, Dalglish, Nicol and Souness all magic players. Duncan Ferguson could and should of been amongst the top, frightening amount of talent north of the border back in the day.

the answer is probably based on which generation you would rate as the best time in Scottish football. my five in no particular order would be
danny mcgrain sandy jardine Kenny dalglish davie cooper jimmy johnstone. I am fairly sure both mcgrain and jardine were included in the world cup 1974 select team of the tournament. maybe someone could confirm.. ![]() |
