Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has had a cheeky dig at Premier League rivals Chelsea, describing them as a "really good club" - but not a "massive" one like the Reds.

It came as the Northern Irishman was discussing Victor Moses, currently on-loan at Anfield from Jose Mourinho's side.

Moses has this week sat down with the Reds boss, with Rodgers explaining his reasons for substituting the Nigerian international at half-time in the FA Cup win over Oldham last weekend.

And Rodgers feels that what is important for Moses is to come to terms with being at a "big club."

"It’s not easy when you come to a big club," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"You come from a really good club like Chelsea to a massive club like Liverpool where there is expectancy every day.

"For any player to go into a big club is a huge difference in terms of mentality.

"He’s a good kid and I’m delighted to have him here. I’ve got no doubt that over the course of time here he will show his talent. I still expect him to make a big contribution in the second half of the season."

To be fair the burden of being expected to finish above Everton every year can get to the best of players.

Neil Mellor could have been better than Messi if only he'd had the mental strength to cope with that pressure.

Liverpool are clearly a bigger club. But would that bother 23 year old Moses? Not really, Rogers talks about the need for expectancy every day. Moses wasnt even alive the last time Liverpool won the league, Chelsea have won it 3 time in the last 9 years so I doubt very much it matters to Moses

Chelsea are reknowned for being a vile club. Liverpool are a much bigger more real club to play for imho.

Chelsea will never have or will ever be a 'big' club.

For the simple reason that is Roman takes away his billions Chelsea will fall away.

Your Liverpools, Barcelonas, Real Madrids of this world will always be there.

Feck me in the UK there is a big debate about how much Man Utd are in debt.In five years it will be paid off love or hate the Glaziers..

Those Spanish Clubs owe so much that it would bankrupt the Country (again)..

Liverpool are a former top team.

There is a difference between being a big club and a club doing well. How can anybody even compare the size of these two clubs? Look at the worldwide fanbase, I could get a home or away ticket for Chelsea every week... not that I'd want to wave a plastic flag around all game and sit there quietly.
