Mourinho has burnt his bridges in Spain, Manchester United didn't want him, he has run out of top clubs to manage and is now having sloppy seconds with Roman.

With his cropped hair and bags under his eyes José Mourinho looks anything but The Happy One. He looks disinterested and troubled. He looks out of love with the game. The early season bravardo has gone. The photographers no longer crowd around his dugout. Like a 12 week old balloon he looks deflated and rather sad.

How long before he quits?

José has always loved playing to the press, they love him and he loves their sycophantic man love.

But it's plain to see he ain't very happy being in the Chelsea dugout.

Report funkymonkey December 16, 2013 11:57 PM GMT
Hamsterdam is spot on.

It is a massive step down and must have an emotional impact, because regardless of the turmoil he experienced in his last year at Madrid, Chelsea is not one of Europe's elite like a Madrid, Barca or Bayern. Everything would feel small coming back to a club like Chelsea.

And it will hurt his ego that the man he hates being compared to is flying high at a genuine giant club (Bayern). In fact, those two drawing each other in the Champions league and Chelsea getting thumped would be dugout gold dust.

Funniest post for a while.

I've never seen him so annoyed when constantly asked about Lukaku.

Manchester United know the value of a long term approach. Moyes was at Everton for about 10 years, Jose has usually skipped the country in under 3.

A popular misconception because of one man. Before him United had won fck all since the 60s and were even relegated. The long term approach got them nowhere before him and there's no guarantees it will after.
Report freddiek December 17, 2013 10:27 AM GMT
Benitez had Chelsea playing much better towards the end of last season than they are currently. He helped win them a major european trophy but youd think they had finished fourth from bottom from what the fans say about him.

In an occupation where 2-3 seasons are considered long term, let's conveniently ignore the 3 managers after him who all managed over 200 games each
Report ours4keeps December 17, 2013 11:29 AM GMT
The success isn't simply in appointing a manager and making it a long term appointment it's in appointing 2 greats such as Busby and Ferguson. Moyes is as close to them as you are to someone half clever. Mourinho is at least in the same ball park regarding quality and ability and would have been a much better solution, both short term and long term.

Real always boot their managers out. It's what they do. Jose managed to beat "the best club the world has ever seen" and win the league. If you judged managers by them lasting the course at Real you'd simply have a long list of failures including Pellegrini, Del Bosque, Hiddink, Heynckes and Capello. I suppose they're all garbage too.
Report lurka December 17, 2013 12:11 PM GMT
Certainly his body language is not that of someone hungry to win. Not impressed with him or Chelsea since his return but we'll see. He needs a top striker in January
Report ZingZangZong December 17, 2013 12:25 PM GMT
Real may change their managers fairly often but can you remember a manager who was as disliked as Jose at Madrid?

The whole of Spain was glad to see him go.
Report ours4keeps December 17, 2013 12:44 PM GMT
But he does that everywhere, generates an us v them mentality, moans at other teams, the officials and the press - often because he's upset but equally often because he's playing the game and it's a means to an end.

If there were any problems with the squad it was because he dropped Casillas, an institution both at club and country level. It was a big, controversial decision but given he still can't force his way back into the team you can't say he made a mistake. Given the level of adulation he gained at Porto, Chelsea and Inter I'd say he's probably done a lot more right than wrong in his career and at good clubs (huge in Inter's case).

The Madrista fans for the most part didnt like Mourinho because he ruined their reputation worldwide and in Spain. Most Spanish fans "second club" is Madrid but Joses antics turned many people off.  Likewise the Madrid reputation and how they were viewed across the world was tainted by Mourinhos reign. They couldnt get rid of him quick enough and any Spanish journalist or ex-madrid player will tell you the same.

There is nothing left for him after Chelsea, no self-respecting club in England would have him, he's done Madrid, can't do Barca, done Inter, AC Milan have no money left, the Old Lady wouldn't have him neither would Munich, possibly PSG, but the French league is not a challenge, next step would probably be international management, he looks fit for the knackers yard anyway, 1 game ever so often should suit him, likely money-bags Qatar, already qualified for 2022 and the fact the morally bankrupt nation breaks every human right act going, slave driving immigrants till they drop shouldn't be a problem with Jose's conscious, perfect fit. Don't come back.
