Arsenal were "elected"  to the Top Flight in season 1919-20. They remain the only club since the formation of the Football League in 1888-89 who never earned their place on merit.

Could this have been the first ever 'bung'?

Unchanged side again for The Mighty Potters! Will the Three Musketeers be able to get round the West Brom bus?

Stoke mirroring Everton - last minute winner followed by a last minute defeat.

Win some...lose some. Hopefully, a better result against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.

Stoke need 2 sides. One to dog it out against bottom half rivals and one to play the 'better' teams. If you lose twice to West Brom in a season, then you ain't going anywhere.

Poor showing tonight. Liverpool deserved it. At least it's not over til the end of the second leg!

very poor from Stoke tonight. Liverpool players were dropping like flies, had a dwarf playing centre half, yet Stoke created very little.

Didn't even know there was a second leg.    So Stoke are still in with a shout this season of winning their first ever trophy.   Nice.

Hasta la vista Thick Stoke Haters! I'm closing my Betfair account over a dispute over a voided bet, so it's unlikely I'll be able to contribute any further to the forum, but keep up the Hating!

Long live The Mighty Potters!

FA Cup Round 3

Doncaster 1-2 Stoke

Please forgive me for feeling pleased with myself, but it seems the Stoke fans have now appropriated my chant, and adapted it to the situation of the game.

I was listening to the last few minutes of the match on the wireless yesterday, and as Stokelona inexorably closed in on certain victory I heard the visiting fans singing the anthem below like absolute heroes :

"We don't wanna be stuck at home watching 'From Here To Eternity' starring Burt Lancaster,
Cha-ChaChaCha-ChaChaCha-ChaCha-ChaCha
We wanna go for a quick run round the Town Moor, then see Stoke thrash Doncaster
Cha-ChaChaCha-ChaChaCha-ChaCha-ChaCha"

I particularly liked they paid heed to punctuation, rightly pausing where commas interrupted the text.

So now it's up to the ever witty, cheerful and insightful Captain Christy to keep this thread going.  Wonder how that's going to work out?

So JOCI Club is definitely gone?   He was one of the good guys (despite being a Stoke fan). Plain  Anyway, hoping (and expecting) for you lot to do a number on the Arse tomorrow.

Unlucky last night lads.

I didn't realise that you last won this trophy in 1971/1972. But is that reason enough for you lot to still wear the fashion of those years?

You mugs may as well get on your hands and knees and beg Tony Pulis to come back.

You can then return to being thugs and kick and run tactics. Ive never seen a home side so totally dismantled as Stoke were last night. Laugh

Excellent retort Christy.  Happy  And what exactly have Stoke City won in their long history besides the Autoglass Cup in 1912?

Hours after the game and I can still hear the faithful singing like heroes at the Oatcake Stadium
