The guy Talks to players on Sat and asks how many goals you can give, only interested in 4 or 5. Now how the hell could 1 or 2 players know they will manage to get 4 or 5 goals? Surely that would have to involve all players in both teams? The so called fixer is not bribing both teams only 1 or 2 players within. You go figure.

"The fixer asked us for €60,000 [£50,000], which he said was to cover the cost of paying the players" I doubt that cash is just for 1 or 2 players, probably shared out between the team. |

The news I watched last night said it would cost £70,000 to pay all the players in one team, and the fact that they "only" earn £5,000 a month, makes it very likely that a lot of them would be tempted in earning £7,000 for two hours work. They referred to the Conference league by name. These bets are placed at Asian bookies, usually illegal ones, but they can bet in millions, so paying £70,000 to fix a match would be peanuts to them.

As someone said earlier you wonder how some of these asian bookies make money.
First you get the spot fixing in cricket. Now if you're a bookie and someone came to you and said i want 300k that so and so will bowl a no ball in the 6th over, would you take that bet? Or would you think, hang on a sec, perhaps this bloke might just know something. Likewise if some dodgy bloke from Singapore came to you and said i want 250k that Hyde v Nuneaton (for example) will be over 4.5 surely it'd set alarm bells ringing somewhere. Why do they take these bets? |

Even if they split it between 100 bookies, the question still applies, why would any of them take a bet on something that would only be bet on if the punter had inside knowledge.
If a guy from Singapore goes to an asian bookie and wants cash on a high goals market in an English non league game, you'd surely be asking yourself, why? It's not Barca v Real! The spot fixing in cricket is worse though. Why would anyone take a bet on a no ball in a particluar over. Ridiculous bet that wold only be punted on if someone knew something. |

Spot fixing can include betting on no balls though, i'm sure it comes down to betting on when one will be bowled. Bit like betting on when the first throw in or corner will be in football

In the murky world of Asian betting it's not unknown for the bookmakers to employ fixers as well to get one over their big hitters who are betting in millions per bet.
