The FA have done next to nothing with measures to prevent match fixings so hardly a surprise. They are too busy counting their money.

Thread title is a bit misleading, that Telegraph article doesn't mention premier league matches being fixed, it only refers to lower league and conference games.

Aldershot town or Lincoln City in the conference. If its a league 2 side it can only be Mansfield.

just do up the scores in the conference of 3-1 and 4-0 losses for the month of November and theres only 2/3 possible clubs.

It'll be all those Conference games where there was 5-6 teams which the bookies removed, there was an article on the BBC about one game between 2 lower league sides where there was half a million matched on the asians, which was more than the Barcelona La Liga game that day!

Am I missing something, because in the video he's talking about goals scored, you'd have to have pretty much the entirety of both teams in on it to achieve that, and even then it would be hard to do without it looking very very iffy.

Me thinks I'm missing something too, except for media hyperbole. Telegraph claims it's the biggest match-fixing scandal for decades. Really? Semi-pro teams at best less than 20 years after Brucie and Hans Segers, etc, were done.

Those videos make it look as if the "fixer" is going to sting the "mark". They must have more/better evidence than that.

Its was all this stuff that was in the news. If they've arrested them now then the investigation will have stemmed from this. They cant arrest them when they're sitting in Singapore but they nap them at the airport when they got back here! Unscrupulous individuals wait for the players after games, offer 5-10k to make sure a games goes one way or anther. Thats a lot of money to players at this level. You can get 10's of thousands on these games on the asian bookies. It was similar to the Finnish betting scandal where they tapped up a club (ROPS i think it was) and they were just betting hundreds of thousands on their games. |

Look,
If you are a professional player playing in a top league, why on earth would you take a bung to chuck a game? You have far too much to lose long term. You could be dropped, missing out win bonuses, your transfer value decreases etc. At conference level, it's a different story. I am certain players are at it or have been at it for some time. |
