its a no lose proposition for the new man , if by any freak of nature  they stay up hes in clover but if the considerably more likely scenario of relegation occurs hes done nothing that wasn't expected.

I hav to agree that it who ever gets it can't lose! I hav had a go on o'neil @ 18.5, Mcarthy @ 70 n warnock which was a waste of money coz I dnt fancy pulis (costs to much) or Coleman (fans wld hate him!)

"WHO IS GETTING THE PALACE JOB"
Depends when Liz packs it in. Chazza is of course always favourite but Wills is definitely worth a speculative punt.

Only Pulis if they are prepared tp pay him what he wants... 2.5 mil is what he seems to think a rugby manager gets thesedays.

I get a feeling that Palace are going to surprise the bookies and go with someone who fits the requirements of the club i.e. is cheap like Holloway and isn't going to embarrass the owners in their naivety.

That means the likes of O'Neil and Pulis are off the list and puts Coleman as the favourite, which will be a disaster for their survival hopes and I would say as a Palace fan disappointing as I've not forgotten how he left the club and that performance he put in against Blackburn before he left us.

Away from Coleman if they want to be shown up as complete liars, which wouldn't be a first given how they dealt with the legend Freedman, then I'd say Karl Robinson would be a good outside bet as he was quite fancied before Holloway was given the job.

Karl Robinson? That's plumbing the depths. Distinctly average record and a stirring whingeing cry baby to boot.

Experienced and ambitious is the criteria, thing is, nobody wants relegation on their cv and the truth is the players arent up to it, at least they havnet shown it thus far

It's a shame Poyet went to Sunderland because he's one slightly less experienced manager I would have took, did a good job at Brighton before they sacked him Live on TV, very classy.

If I was a Palace fan I'd be livid aswell, Coleman is a woeful manager. Someone like Pulis would have at least give them a bit of hope, Coleman would be a car crash appointment.

Agreed, but who wants the job?

There's no money for the January transfer window and they'll probably be down by then anyway so the offer for the new manager is to help rebuild a recently relegated team with a solid financial standing to help establish a championship promotion push.

That means they're looking at a good lower level manager or someone who's young and hungry.

Palace are unlucky that they went bust after paying **** players above average wages. If they'd have done it the Southampton way they'd have had a quality ground and training facilities all paid for by the HMRC and could now spend the TV money with impunity on players that could make the difference.

Palace are just an example of the way in which the money in the Premiership is making it impossible to even be competitive when you're promoted unless you spend every single penny of the TV money and then some. That coupled with the EPPP means getting out of the Championship is pretty pointless in itself unless you're one of the directors of the club looking for a big pay day.

The way it's going in England it will not be long before someone like Palace is just wrapped up and we'll have the Spanish system with Chelsea B and Man City B filling the lower tiers of the English league. All very boring really.

So one day we'll have Chelsea A and B 1st and 2nd in the Premier League??? Perish the thought!!!

Don't think that is true. Obviously it is difficult for any team promoted via the play offs but the money available and number of free agents means it is possible to survive. Palace's problem is that they signed a number of players who arent good enough.

Love to know where all the quality free agents are, if a player's any good the club keep 'em, simple as that.

Anyway have a look at the below. Red equals relegated and green means retained Premiership status.

I think it's clear that without a moneybags takeover or a pure financial gamble on the future of the club you're pretty much destined to get relegated because of the money effect in being able to attract better quality players.

To be honest I'm fine with watching Palace in the championship, more games, we're competitive and no chance of bumping into Man Utd or Chelsea fans. WIn Win!

here's a thought why not leave the caretaker in charge, last two games showed plenty of heart and guts, no matter who comes in the quality is not going to change
