Thats the assumption that everyone has been making , especially TV pundits , all through this awful campaign .... 'just win the home games at the end and job done'

If they could blow these teams away with the ease that 2/5 quotes suggest they'd already be through.

Hodgson is the main problem  . Every match building up the opposition , keeping it tight , '2 banks of four' Cry That approach just guarantees a scrappy game which will be decided by minor details.

Well i wouldn't fancy that either Scared

Anything less than 3pts from these 2 games and they are probably 3rd place and out .Second place could mean  a play off vs someone like Croatia .They have played 4 matches vs the 'good teams' in this group and won none so far.

Just not seeing why people expect them to suddenly turn it on at the end when they have been so poor all through this  Confused

tobermory---i hope you are wrong BIG TIME--i still think 2-5 to beat Montenegro is a very fair price--Laugh

I wonder what price the likes of Spain, Germany and Holland would be at home to Montenegro.

2/5 seems a decent price in a game we need to win and where we have pretty much a full strength squad (apart from Johnson and Walcott) to pick from. Montenegro also have injury doubts over their 2 best players.

I'm a wild optimist then. An injury hit Montenegro and a Poland side who may well have nothing to play for by then.

Of course we should expect 2 wins.

10 years ago 1/3 would have been a good price but this is an exceptionally weak group of players england have at the moment. i'd have it more like 1/2 now and 1/6 to qualify
By:

point taken---but if we cant stuff Montenegro and Poland at home at this stage---we dont deserve to be going IMO
By:

of course 4 points which should be a given might be enough. ukraine were so inept and unadventurous going forward against england you couldn't be very confident they'll see off poland. all in all it's a pretty desperate group

tobermory--i agree 100 per cent---i honestly think confidence is the major problem---we should be arrogant and positive against teams like this
By:

I expect the dinosaurs Hodgson and Lewington to be fist pumping at full time after a 1-0 victory.  What follows will be the cobbling together of 5 points in the group stages before a negative 0-0 affair in the 2nd round to someone seen as mildy superior and losing on penalties.

We have poor players and even weaker management.
By:
tobermory

Yes . An open game i would expect England winning 3 or 4-1

Hodgson will only be thinking of the 1-0 though probably .

lol

we have a set of players who are no where near good enough.

its time we woke up and changed how we do things from the very bottom.

put the best coaches at school / youth level instead of the clubs snapping them up ......meaning the important coaching gets drummed in very early making more of an impact.
the FA need to pay these coaches handsomely
By:
