Maribor never won on English turf in 6 attempts. Oh.

On a more brighter note Maribor played Spurs last season in Europa League and only lost 3-1 at White Hart Lane (Wigan are no Spurs) and drew with them 1-1 in Slovenia.

Maribor also have a brand new coach in charge. His first game tonight so hopefully the players have something to prove to him.

Wigan currently 15th in the Championship.

Maribor currently 1st in top Slovenian League.

Surely there is a bit of value to be had here. Not saying they will win but as a value bet i'll be chucking something at it. GL

Taken from BBC Website.

Wigan will be without several key players for Thursday's Europa League Group D match against Slovenian side Maribor - the first ever European tie at the DW Stadium.

Defenders Gary Caldwell and Ivan Ramis, goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi, midfielder Shaun Maloney and strikers Grant Holt and Marc-Antoine Fortune are injured.

Scottish full-back Stephen Crainey has a neck problem.

agree tho I have a feeling itll end a draw  so a lay is best bet

The missing key players for us mentioned on BBC site have been out most of the season anyway.

I expect Coyle will play a similar team to the 1st game in Belgium and with no recognised striker I wouldn't be surprised to see the same outcome. I tipped the 0-0 daw last time and will go for it again at a tasty 12/1 on here.

I wouldn't put anyone one off laying us tonight though...we have been pish all season so far, so it wouldn't take a great team to get a result.

I've gone for the lay of Wigan. Maribor have enough about them to get at least a draw at the JJB.

makes me laugh how championship sides can do well in Europe and p1ss up in the Championship against the likes of Doncaster Laugh

Maribor currently 1st in top Slovenian League.

Judging by Maribor's performance last night I would compare their league to the Conference.

Apart from 10 mins late in the game they were truly shocking.

Still a European win is a win and we will take them all. Powell could have easily had a double hat-trick last night.

The fact that Maribor won the treble last season tells you how bad the rest of their league must be
Report mafeking October 4, 2013 6:47 PM BST
really 32 teams is far too many for the CL and as a consequence the europa league group stages are full of utter dross. there's just no demand for 80 teams having 6 games each guaranteed before xmas. empty grounds and minimal tv interest
