Lay Brentford today, NAP.

Haven't seen either side this season but Brentford were the best side in the division last season, why would they be such a value lay at 2.72?

It's a Bradford. Wink

Bradford 2 from 2 wins in league at home, Brentford 0 wins from 2 away - last season brentford much better at home for winning games, only won 7 away all season.

Tell me why Brentford should be trading shorter than Bradford here?

quite a few people tipping Bradford. Yet they've drifted like a barge. Any particular reason?

chesterfield are short but should be too good for accrington who have injury worries

Don't know platini, but I do know Bradford are top value at these prices - big home crowd, they are difficult for any side at home in this division.

I never said they should be. I just questioned whether Brentford are a value lay at 2.72. They were the best side in the division last year, have strengthed again and although they haven't started well, they are the better side here, and I think there are better bets than opposing Brentford here.

Even if they were the better side wouldn't mean they should be shorter away from home
By:

When: 07 Sep 13 11:16
if they shouldn't be so short, they're a lay!

The big home crowds didn't help them the last time they were in League 1, they went down.

Did you miss the whole of last season then!?

What the heck has our rubbish side of years ago got to do with current one? Crazy

You sneaked up through the play-offs and Brentford were very unlucky not to go up. If the coin had landed the other way up there would be two divisions between the two sides this season.

Just because I don't fancy laying Brentford does not mean I have to have any other bet on the match. It's a no bet for me. If I was having a bet on the match it would be Brentford at 2.72. You're backing Bradford+draw at about 1.58. Fair enough, good luck. For the record my main bet today will be Fleetwood at evens.

we only sneaked up through playoffs because of the cup run which knackered us for a large part of the season, and led to some key players missing matches etc.

without that I'm pretty sure we'd have had automatic - we've just had the player of the month (wells) in this league, and several players who have played above this level in the side. If you think we're weak, you need to look fair bit deeper than knocking the side of '06 and look at the current team!

I haven't said you are weak. Again you seem to be deliberately misquoting me. I haven't said anything about Bradford's team other than big crowds (the reason you gave for backing you) didn't help last time you were in this division.

The only thing I have said about this match is that BRENTFORD are a good side and that I wouldn't want to be against them at that price. You haven't mentioned BRENTFORD, the team you are laying, at all, other than to say they haven't won their first two aways. Have you seen them play this season? Do you know anything about them? If you go to the game today can you let us know how  Adam Forshaw plays, because from what I've seen of him he is one of the best players in the division and it would be no surprise to me to see him in the Prem & an England jersey one day soon.

Marychain - I know you are a seasoned punter on here, and can't believe what you are suggesting really.

You do know that the odds reflect both sides don't you, not just Brentford? So how strong (or weak) Bradford are is kind of important in judging how short (and they are) Brentford are priced. So Bradford being a strong side (on evidence as I've given) is pretty important - I've also pointed out that Brentford are not strong (particularly) on their away record, either this season or the last one. Clear enough? The home advantage is a factor incidentally despite the fact that we had a rubbish side in '06!

My bets of the day are:

Cambridge to win at Hyde (4/5)
FGR to win at Braintree (11/10)
Newport to beat Mansfield (13/10)

Luton to beat Grimsby at 11/10, also Jake Howells to score at 6.4, great value as he is on the pens.

agree about Cambridge, hyde appear to be rather woeful so far.
I also fancy Ukraine to beat san marino 9-0 - just has a kind-of ring to it somehow.
