I can't wait- its been way too long since we had a right old go at subjugating the Jocks yet again. All this talk of independence popping up again after the 1745 rebellion was crushed. I call on every b lue blooded Englishmen to sing the adopted verse for this game:
Lord grant that Marshal Wade

Rebellious Scots to crush
God save the Queen
Lord Goldsmith, the former attorney general who led Gordon Brown’s review of British citizenship, had suggested that a verse calling for “rebellious Scots” to be crushed ought to be rewritten.His remarks provoked speculation that the little-known stanza in God Save the Queen, written during the Jacobite uprising of 1745, was likely to be altered or officially disowned.However, Labour has now confirmed there is no prospect of the National Anthem being changed, insisting it was a source of pride for people across the UK.
All of this with tongue firmly in cheek

i work on the turnstiles at wembley in 1979...when england played scotland...there was an alcohol ban...scots bloke comimg throw with a bottle of whisky 3/4 full copper says you cant come in with that...he down it in seconds ..never forgot that

Forty of us travelled to London in 1977 (England supporters), only 15 on the bus had tickets, what a weekend we had though. Went into one bar on the Friday evening to the sound of breaking glass, Scot's lads were taking pot shots at the glasses hanging above the bar. We never had any bother with them, but, plenty did. |

Scotland was a Protestant country and many didn't want the Catholic King Charles and his French supporters changing things. A lot of the clans were sympathetic to the Catholic ways and supported Charles, while other clans opposed those clans because of old feuds and current religious beliefs. Most of the nobles and businessmen from lowland Scotland believed in keeping the Protestant faith in Scotland and also wanted to keep their prosperity gained from trading with England so they also opposed Charles and his views. As Charles had invaded part of England, the English army had gone after him and finally, with the help of other Scottish clans, they defeated him at Culloden. |

Most of the rangers fans support England. Most of the Celtic fans support Ireland. |

England should win comfortably if they are at it. Big IF.
In Wilshire, if he stays fit, they have one of the best young midfielders in the world along with Mario Goatze. Wilshere could be the missing link for England to reach a semi final of a major tournament in the next few years, outstanding talent, England's Juan Mata. Scotland are organised and will be confident after their victory in Croatia and have some decent technical players. I think Scotland will be more up for it though so 1-1 for me. |
